Not to Highjack Antelope's thread, but those are the things I think would be helpful in responses to the thread he started.

1-Mileage change: stock was 9-10city/11-12hwy, modified is 12-13city/15-16 maybe a 17 if i have a tail wind hwy!
2-Power change: increase was VERY noticable about 35 hp and 45tq at the wheels.
3-Sound Clip: TEAM MUDD SOND CLIP (if link does not work go to www.team-mudd-racing.com and click on the "video/sound clip link"!)
4-Complete system or just muffler: purchase seperate and it will be cheaper in my opinion, but i also did all the work myself!
5-Cost: headers $600 (never used off e-bay), blades for recipercating saw $3.oo (to cut off cat, FM 40 series (never used off e-bay) $35, exhaust hangers from lowes $4.50
6-Source: Ebay was a big part of it
!7-Overall impression or opinion: BEST mod i ever did! will do it again if i get anouther V10 truck!! BANKS shows to keep more low end torque due to the design of the headers. larger tube, thicker flange and deeper tone than the others.
i love my set up and will do the same when i get anouther V10!

gibson headers
mbrp dual outlet 4 inch straight through "way to loud for the cops"
cost to friging high 680 dollars with shipping for the muffler plus another 600 and labor for the gibson's which are great
mpg gain 1.6 mpg
power gain or loss LOST LOW END
over all feeling is a v10 must have a baffled muffler with a flow master 70 being the best i tryed. straight through mufflers make this beast sound like a old detroit diesel marine motor . and rattle your ears inside the cab big time .
i'm going to try some thing by purchaseing a 7 inch long baffle for headers from jegs and install it in front of the muffler to see if it helps out .
sounded good, but way to loud, resonated very badly from about 1700-2000m so bad it made my head hurt....didnt gain any power...on the 3v v-10's i dont think there is any benifit in doing an exhaust on a stock motor as it seems to handle all the air the motor can take in....now supercharged may be a different story

Hounddog, what type muffler is the Gibson?
I would like to hear from skipperw as I believe he has had an Aero Turbine and now has a Magnaflow.

Only thing OEM is the exhaust manifolds (for now) Got rid of the single exhaust and the restrictive "Y" pipe.
The new exhaust system: Stainless steel 3 inch piping custom fabricated (all mandrell bent) by a local exhaust company called RJ Exhausts in College Point, NY. High Flow SS Mini Cat's and SS Magnaflow muffers. All seams welded, no clamps. Custom hangers and exhausts terminating one on each side behind the rear wheel. I felt an improvement in the powerbands, particularly in the low end though I never did a dyno. And have yet to stomp on the accelerator to see just how much power she has. I feel the fuel economy has improved also but have to actually take down some numbers to get some real figures. I like the sound from the Magnaflows but they had a droning in certain powerbands which kind of irritated me after some point. I had the exhaust shop install high flow resonators which helped out alot. Nothing like turning the key and hearing the exhaust come to life.

It is Straight Through. A little loud but I like it like that. I also have the Magna Flow Straight Through Cat. I feel that I got a better sound and at the time I put it in, it felt like it helped the HP. The Y pipe change really help the sound and definitely helped HP and Torque.
The 2005 and newer V10s have a different cat setup than the 2004's and older. We have 2 cats, one off each manifold. The inlet/outlet is reduced to about 1 3/4" diameter.
This is why I think exhaust mods do no good on the 05's and up. I think it's Fords idea simmilar to the necked down Y pipe. If I ever win the lottery, I'm going to cut the in/out off the cats and weld in larger diameter tubing to match the rest of the exhaust system.
