Is a chip now available for a 2005 V10. Looking for some performance and maybe some help with on the road fuel mileage. Truck is at 95,000 and have had only one problem since new.
The 3-valve V10 is pretty much stretched out as far as it can go. A chip will only get you a little bit extra power, and certainly won't help with the MPGs much, if at all.
There's a torque-limiting function that Captchas has dealt with, he knows more about it than probably anyone here. He used the SCT Xcalibrator I believe. Whatever he used, he was able to tune it with a laptop, it wasn't a pre-set program.
HOLY COW! a 2005 with 95,000 miles. wow, u must really love your truck! there is nothing that i know of available to help mileage except a lighter throttle foot. sorry i couldnt be more help, but a truck is made to haul, not for mileage. matt
I think that one thing that i would like to change as much as anything is the way the trans shifts and the dead spot in the wide open throttle at about 4200 rpm. It seems to just hesitate at that spot and maybe things just are going a little to fast with 4.30's and the computer doesn't keep up. I don't know if other people experience it or not. I know that tow/haul will solve the problem of the upshift being short at 70 mph when getting on the interstate. This has been a great truck so far and I love the V10
I do know that it really loves cold air and suffers from the Georgia heat when it gets above 90 But the best feeling is pushing a Porsche around 285 at 90 mph and all he gets to see is a rear view mirror full of a big blue oval
...pushing a Porsche around 285 at 90 mph and all he gets to see is a rear view mirror full of a big blue oval
I hope you're kidding. Please maintain a safe following distance for your own safety as well as the stranger's in the car ahead of you. These are nice pickups, but they're still just pickups. Tailgating at high speeds is only "safe" when the guy in front is in a race car and he's expecting you to be on the track with him.
I don't have any problem with the 90mph (I assume he's not running the stock 85mph rated tires ). But with a minimum 2-second following distance the driver of the Porsche should be seeing A WHOLE LOT more than a blue oval in his rear view mirror. That's what I hope he was kidding about.
If I run 80 mph someone will ask me to move over and get out of the way and if the tires are only good for 85 why does the speed limiter cut off at 97. I've always been told that the reason was because the tires were only good for that speed. I would really like to push that porsche a little harder but the computer takes over and stops me. The V10 doesn't even take a long breath at 90 mph.
arts is correct a sct excal2 custom tuned is the only way to fly. but word of advise spend all you want 31 hp is all that can be pulled out with out a blower being added
also a note for the 05/6 guys the sf9415b standerd flasher has a few bugs in the tune file for the v10 that they are working on and addreesing for the harsh upshift problem.
all the items we tryed on mine all we got was 31 hp and 31 foot pounds .if you want more use a blower kit like skip and a few others have done.
yes, for now do not buy the pre prorgrammed xcal two like i did, the downshifting is so bad it would chirp the tires in the 3-2 downshift and make the abs come on for asecond and you coudl feel it in the brake pedal...did not adjust the rev limiters, did not adjust speedo like advertised, shifting was horrbile no matter wha tline pressure, only thing that kicked butt was taking the "traction control" off in 2st and 2nd gear
Sounds like I just need to get a little more cold air to her and be happy with what i've got for now. It's a great truck and I've been more than pleased. Hey, that supercharger thing sure sounds interesting!!
