Just got a letter from ford that I need to have a recall done on the '11 v10. Supposed to be a reprogram of the PCM, so I need to go out and take the 5 star tune out this week so I can take it in.
Recall number is 15E05, says the vehicle may fail emmissions tests, void ford warranty if not completed. Takes 1/2 to a day to complete according to letter and dealer.
Sounds kinda like the VW fiasco since they say it may be releasing pollutants in excess of standards?
Contact 5-star AFTER the update by Ford. The calibration will change, and you'll have to let 5-star know what it changed to, and get your tunes redone.
Side note: the difference here is that VW purposely MADE the diesels pass the emissions tests and then spewed much more NOx then they were supposed to.
In this case, Ford is saying the vehicle might not pass an emissions inspection - most likely because a monitor or some other variable is not what the inspection equipment wants to see. It's probably still WAY inside of emissions standards
