Just thought Id share my experience. I installed the dash pad from jeffs bronco graveyard. The pad itself is very nice and matches the color nicely. BUT, the fitment is less than satisfactory. As you can see in my gallery, there is a gap between the face of the dash and the lip of the pad. The positioning of the studs in the pad barely make the spread of the slots. Hence, there is no adjustment possible. Its unfortunate to pay $250 and it fits ****ty. If my old pad was repairable, I would have gone that route, but it was in bad shape. The purpose of this post is not to put down jeffs bronco graveyard, but rather to show you that "Ford original tooling" doesnt mean its going to be perfect. Oh and one last note, the pad does not include hardware and the original nuts ford used are a different size.
Can you send that one back and get another one? Maybe just a poorly made one. I have not bought a dash pad yet, but I had found a nice one at a salvage yard, the problem was the sun had faded it really bad. The original color was tan and I uses colorbond from LMC which I didn't care for. The spots that didn't have sun bleach turned out pretty good, but the where there were spots, the black color didn't seem to cover very well. The pad will work, because I am going to put a carpet dash cover on it anyway. I don't want to get rid of the pad because it's still soft and no cracks or warpage.
I suspect that Jeff's gets that pad from Carpenter, as they are the only mfg. I am aware of to use "Original Ford Tooling". For $250, I'd send it back and get another to see if it was just a bad part. If the second one doesn't fit, we'll all know to stay away from that pad.
