I have an 03 excursion and after reading the posts I went looking for the code for my door. I removed the 2 screws holding the trash bag hook plate in place and the module with the code was sitting there in plain view.
I have checked with my Ford Repair manual DVD's and have found that the module is called 2 different things depending on what year Excursion you have. I also found that the module is located in 2 different places. If anyone uses this, finds the keypad codes on the 200-2001 module, please do a photo write up of it and submit it as an article!!!
In the 2000-2001, it is called the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) —Generic Electronic/Central Timer (GEM/CTM) and is located behind the fuse panel. You have to dismantle the fuse panel to get to it.
2001 -02 instructions From the Ford DVD's:
The GEM controls a variety of systems:
4-wheel drive functions
front and rear interval wiper/washer
warning chimes
keyless entry
interior and exterior lamps
power windows
Remove the instrument panel steering column cover.
Unlock the retainers.

4. Disconnect the bulkhead connectors.
5. Position the instrument panel fuse junction panel aside.

Remove the generic electronic module/central timer module (GEM/CTM).
In 2002 and up, it is located behind the radio in the center of the dash and it is called the Vehicle Security Module (VCM).
From the Ford DVD's:
The VSM controls the following systems:
remote keyless entry (including panic feature)
computer-operated locks
autolamp
keypad keyless entry (Excursion only)

I have a 2003 Eddie Bauer EX and my door code was not in my paper work and the Ford dealershipship wanted the truck for sveral hours and an unknown price to get me my code. Everyone that has posted here helped me to find mine and the keypad now works! I took the trash bag holder out then the drink cup holder. I then looked to the left and was able to find the code! It was rather hard but like you guys said a good flashlight and alittle searching has me now being able to use the keypad. Thank everyone!
I found my code written (by the previous owner) right there in the owner's manual....it might save you some work to check any paper documentation you have--maybe you'll get lucky like I did!
