I have a 89 f150 with a 302 efi and i would like to put in a 351 efi because frankly i could use some more power. I have an early 70's freshly rebuilt 351 that has never been used and i would like to know if i could bolt up the later 351 components like the lower intake? Also could i use the same heads that are on the older motor.
I am not sure if the heads will bolt up to a lower efi 5.8 intake or not. best bet is to get the lower and look. if it doesnt you can pull the heads off of your 89 302 have a machine shop drill out the bolt holes and run those heads on your 70's 351w which will for sure allow you to bolt up an efi 5.8 lower. also note that you can reuse your 302 wiring harness on the 5.8 once you get all the efi hardware, ebay has those things all the time for cheap.
If you change the front brackets to the later EFI serentine drive system, remember to get a new reverse rotation water pump. I'm not sure if they work with the old timing covers or not. Mechanical fuel pump hole will need blocked off as well. Reverse fans inclined the opposite way as well. I used a 74 block, but I did use heads from an 89 351 that I got the EFI parts from.
