89' 302 EFI Truck harness work for 96' 351W bronco EFI?

I have a 89 302 truck EFI setup in an early bronco, i am swaping in a 96 351W out of a 96' bronco. My question is: Can I somehow use my 89 truck 302 efi harness with this newer 351W somehow? Thanks for any input I really apprectiate it.

If you can, I'd do a complete harness and ECU swap with the motor. Its far superior to the '89 set up. If its just the trans part your worried about, you can leave a MLPS(neutral saftey) hooked into the harness tied off in the frame rail.

Actually, yes you can. Are you wanting to use the 302 computer?

the 302 computer will not run the 351w unless it is a MAF computer and not speed density.

It doesnt matter to me if I use the 302 computer or the computer that came with this 96 351W. As far as I understand this new stup is OBD II, so I didnt know if that old 302 computer would run the engine correctly. This 96' engine only came with the harness on the engine, they basically just unplugged it from the firewall(and handed me the computer). So a complete swap to this newer harness would require me to get the rest of the harness from under the dash of the 96 bronco and have a rats nest of wire everywhere, that makes me a little nervous? The 89 and 96 harnesses look so similiar as far as sensros ect. the only difference i see is the plug into the distributor is differnt, this new dist doesnt have the control module on the side of it. I dont believe either of these engines are MAF as they dont have anything to measure air on the way to intake. Sorry if im not being clear here thanks for baring with me, I have a rockcrawling trip coming up soon so im nervous i wont finish in time. Oh, the tranny in this thing in the manual NP435 if that matters?

dose not matter about tranny, actually i think it may be better.. the '96 has to be MAF, the requirements for it to qualify as a '96 was obd2 and maf.. they probably just didn't give you the mass meter when you bought it..
i dont know if you will have to swap all the obd2 stuff in or not..

You cannot use the '96 harness or any part of it in your '89, it may look similar to yours but it's really nowhere close. You don't need it anyway just plug your '89 harness into the sensors and actuators as they are all in the same place except for the TFI module.. that's the thing on the distributor. To solve that little issue you have a few choices, either modify the '96 distributor to accept a TFI module(it's not that hard really ask me how I did it), or go find an early 5.8 distributor with the TFI module on it and install a steel drive gear(you need that because the '96 motor has a roller cam), or use the '96 distributor as is and dig up an external TFI module and wiring from the junkyard and patch it into your '89 harness. Then after that's done you need to find a 5.8 EEC for a manual or C6 auto transmission.. which was a popular combo in '88-92 heavy duty E and F series trucks so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Awsome, thank you so much for your help on this I think I got it. So just use the old harness and an older 5.8 computer and modify the distributer and should be good to go? Can I ask how you modifid your distributer for the module? Can I use the same 302 module in this 96 distributer if I opt to make the 96 distributer work?
