302 efi intake on 351w
I have a 1986 F150 w/302efi and 4 sp. manual OD. I also have a 1986 351 HO (carb) motor complete. I would like to rebuild the 351 HO, use the 302 efi intake and parts to convert it to a 351EFI, and change the trans to a auto OD. I know that the intakes interchange, but what about the computer in regards to the change in displacement and trans. Any wiring changes? Any flexplate teeth problems? Any websites to visit? Any advise/help is appreciated.

Kevman is correct, the intakes will not interchange, the 351 has a taller deck height, which makes the top of the 351 wider than the 302. From what I have heard, 86 is somewhat of a ******* year for ford's fuel injection. My buddy has the same kind of truck you do, and he couldn't get a chip burned for his comp, and didn't want to bother with a swap to newer fuel injection, so he just carb'd his 302. He says it runs a lot nicer, and still passes the smog test.

I recently swapped a 351W into a 1993 F-150 302/AOD. Make sure you use the right flexplate to mate the 351W to the AOD. I would strongly suggest just buying a new flexplate, Ford p/n EOAZ-6375-A; trying to find one in a wrecking yard is risky. Go to http://www.bulkpart.com/ and click on Automatic transmission flywheels, then Ford quick catalog, then go down to Trucks & Bronco. You will find this number and cost is a bargain - about $23. I have ordered parts from these guys with good service.
The flexplates that mate the 351W to C6/E4OD and AOD's both have the same 14.25" o.d, 164 tooth, 28 oz imbalance and 11.4" bolt circle for the torque converter. BUT - the C6/E4OD flexplate positions the torque converter about .2" farther aft (deeper into the transmission) than the AOD flexplate does. I originally used a C6/E4OD flexplate in my swap and trashed my AOD-it ruined the front pump and required a complete rebuild. Live and learn-hope to save others the grief.
Good luck.
