hey guys been awihle since i posted around here but i just recently got myself a new(er) '95 bronco to replace my 89 (still has the reliable 5.0) when i got it i found several weird problems that my meager skills cant figure out. first problem i troubleshot and cornered at the tps. my truck wouldnt want to accelerate immediately and would idle like crap up and down betwwen 500 and 1500 rpm. what i need to know here is if there is a way to adjust it to fix that problem and if so how to do it. second problem keeps showing up randomly. my truck would shift hard into every gear (auto) and after the first hard shift the little light on the shift **** that tells if overdive is off or on would start flashing. it aint flashing a numerical code either it just flashes until you shut the engine off anyways if you guys can help me here it would be greatly appreciated.
Pull codes from the computer. Your hesitation problem is most likely spark-related but again codes will pinpoint it. Your hard shifting along with the O/D light flashing are indicative of a transmission problem that will manifest itself in the codes as a code beginning with a six (6). Being a 95, the EEC computer should generate three-digit codes. The E4OD-related codes are 600 series codes for the most part.
could be the spark but my bets still on the tps the thing tested horribly when i used a vantage on it WOT was only 3 volts when it should be around 5 and the readings were very erratic
I have had the same symptoms you discribe.I am no mechanic but here is what I was told. The transmission was getting the wrong info from somewhere about engine speed(tps??).That is what caused the hard (really hard) shifts.Engine would almost die when pulling out fast into traffic. It got dangerous.I replaced the tps and all was well.I also had a leaking radiator that kept misting the wiring under the hood.I thought this may have contributed to the problem due to coolant leaving a residue on the wires that may have caused lite shorting.Unsure if that is true or not.I read about it on here.Needed replacing anyway. This was on a '94 bronco EB 5.8.Hope this helps. Dan
well mine wouldnt die at all in traffic it owuld just well uh... shift hard and well... burn the hell outta my tires they would bark through every gear (which was cool for the first 5 minutes then i got worried lol)
Again CODES! You can guess for days and spend a ton of time and money doing it. The codes will pinpoint the problem quickly. As for the hard shifitng, check this thread out.. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=511158
heh heh heh i wish ford made retrieving codes a bit easier than that annoying process to test the system but the code was something about hte governor pressure being too high also overheated the fluid a few times so my guess is repairs are gonna be a bit on the spendy side also the funny running was 2 things 1 the spark plug wires were chewed by mice where i didnt see them at first glance and second the tps is **** (non-adjustable also)
