A quick question from a newbie. Has anyone purchased the triptunes for an IPOD from Ford? I have a 2006 F-150 SCrew with the stock radio/ single CD player. I wanted to know how well it works and if you did the install yourself and how easy it was.

Many people use the PIE adapter for their truck. I dont know if the triptunes is an RF style interface or a canbus that uses the aux button.
Well I just found part of the information that I was looking for. On a Mustang forum a poster purchased a triptunes and it was an FM modulator. That definitely means I will go the PIE adaptor route if it is compatible with the HU I have in my F-150 SCrew 4x4.

From the info that I found on here, it is a compatible adapter. If you have factory radio, you may have disconnect it to add the PIE.
I thought that the triptunes might be RF as well, but I couldnt find it in writing. Thanks for the two way help.

So the basic HU from Ford has the connector in the back of the unit needed to plug in the PIE adaptor? I would hate to spend the $90 and then find out it was not compatible with my HU.

The rule of thumb is that if it has the aux button, there is a pie adapter made for that radio. I want to get one myself. Trying to decide how I want to configure my truck. It also depends on if I start driving it to work or not. Right now I have a company vehicle, but I may transfer.
I just read my previous post. It was supposed to say if you have factory sat radio, you will probably have to disconnect it. Hope that makes more sense.

I've been reading this thread and I'm trying to understand what is going on. I've been thinking about buying an IPOD and was wondering how I would connect it to my radio. I have the audiophile with 6 disc changer and it does have the AUX button. Do I have to buy a PIE for it and what the heck is it if I do. Thanks.
