Ok I have a leak running down from the top of the motor down the passenger side around the starter. I have read here to look at the turbo & EBPV.
The valley is clean & dry HPOP is dry. I have check the front of the turbo pedistal, and checked the back as beest as I could and all looks good, but I have no idea where the EBPV is to check to see if it's leaking.
when you lean over your fender and peer into the engine, do you see anything that resembles this? it is a leaky seal at the rod that comes out of the pedestal. the EBPV actuator arm. first pic is with turbo off for clarification.
Ok gutys I took a look today, and if I'm tracking with you the EBPV sits behind my down pipe? I did not remove any thing just loooked around with a flash light and I can see where I think the oil is comming from, and it looks like its comming from a rod or some thing behind the down pipe.
behind the downpipe? if you are looking from the front, the firewall is behind the downpipe. below the downpipe inlet is yet, more downpipe. in front of the downpipe is the cylinder head, the line that bends around below the pedestal is the fuel feed line.
Same problem! 99 F350 CC Auto 97K original owner. I am just starting to get a drop at the inspection plate on the trans. Feel confident not a rear main seal. Crawled all around the other day with a mirror and a flashlight. Also seems to be on the right side and also on my starter ever so light but there. Got home today after pulling my ski boat and it left a small ring of oil on the ground so I will check again. Is this a seal or an O ring? Any idea on time factor to replace? Any special advice too look out for?
In Advance THANKS!
Thanks for the info Strokin, so am I looking on the wrong side for the EBPV is it on the driver side or the passenger side, and could the leaking be the fuel feed line.
the EBPV comes out towards the passenger side of the turbo pedestal, which is what the turbo itself is mounted to.
if the leak droplet is blackish, it's oil. if it's red, it's tranny fluid. if it's clear, it's probably fuel. fuel doesn't seem to "leak", as it is under ~50 psi of pressure and the steel fuel lines dont leak, they just burst if they decide to go. oil likes to seep slowly out of a bad o-ring.
