Help/Lockpad code/Mark Lt Door Handle

Hey, just recently installed Mark Lt door handles, my truck didn't come stock with the keypad on the door handle but there was wiring in the door and a code in my manual but it doesn't work. The keypad doesn't even light up. I tried looking at the manual to see if there is a fuse for it, but had no luck. I went to the ford dealership and they didn't have a clue. Somebody please help

I just installed my handles as well. I did some reading on these forums and they all say that you have to go to the dealership ans have it turned on or activated. By activated, I mean that they have to use thier code reader and scan through it till they find the VSM (Vehicle Security Module) circut and reprogram it to have it turned on.

Then they will have the trucks default code turned on for you. Then everything should be working. Once thats done, you can also program your own personal code in addition to the factory code.

Use the search feature on here and type in words like "keypad" and "mark lt door handles" to see the many different forums that will help give you more info on this. Be sure to use the advanced search so that you can isolate your search to just the this forum only.

Hope this helps, I am currently in the same position as you, I installed my mark LT handles and plugged mine in but it doesnt work either, thats where I found the info. You may need to try another dealer too.

If your truck wasn't equipped with the keypad from the stealership, you probably are missing the key component to the setup. The computer. Wiring should be in all the trucks just to keep cost down of having to maintain 2 seperate harnesses for the same truck. Doesn't mean the system is installed.

Strange that you'd have a code in your manual though and no system for it.

azfiremn, does yours light up at all when you press the keypad? Mine doesn't, so does that mean there is a fuse or relay for it? It pretty much says the same thing on the Jusnes modified website as you stated. I'm kinda pissed at my dealership though, the guy acted like he could of cared less and didn't bother asking anyone else about it. Guess I might have to buy my next truck at a different dealership. Jinash,

No, mine doesnt light up either. I have it connected to the harness in the door but after doing some homework, I just need to get my dealer to program it in and retrieve the default code.

Have you got your keypad working? What grille did you buy, is it a "no cut" replacement grille?
