When I feel attacked (you need to read his post), I don't play dead..
Here in V10-land, you can leave that attitude at the door.
Matter of fact, in the SD forum, or anywhere else on this site, you can leave that attitude at the door.
Please refrain from personal attacks. Your opinion on the K&N is well known to anyone who has read this thread. If you want people to take your opinion seriously, calling people names is not going to help.
If you have nothing more to add, please don't post in this thread.

I don't know this guy Houndog101's past history but Bob clearly lit the match on this fire. I mean you can find studies to prove both ways so insulting members by saying they've wasted money is just a stupid thing to do that is only going to **** some people off. I just hope for the sake of fairness this statement above was for all parties involved.
The Whipple cost me $4000. The dealer that I bought it from charged me $1000 for labor. But, he also installed the Water Injection Kit, Electric Fans, and Electric Water Pump that was included in the price for labor.
I looked into Kenne Bell (his shop is only a few minutes from here. But he sent me to an installer. The bill woulda been 4500 installed (cash only). That didn't include the goodies you got, so I'd say you did very well.
BTW, I got cold feet, and backed off of the s-charger idea. Wish I could do it now.

ok guys cut it out . we all have likes and dislikes. so if it happens to be you don't like after market filters so be it use what you prefer stock paper or oiled cloth.
as to mine i have one from ate with a per filter. my uoa are all always fully normal. leave it each to his own like or dislike .
mods and admin time for a lock down and end to this thread.
People are so bored in their daily lives that they've got nothing better to do than argue over a freakin air filter?!?! Amazing. All the problems in the world, people dying everyday, and here we are arguing over who's got the better air filter. Hey, my god's better than your god. Unbelievable.
Even with the occasional heated argument (mostly because of some PERCEIVED slam) these discussions are relevant and necessary..... no matter where you stand brand loyalty wise or even if you have a strong belief in some bolt on part, it is important for uninformed folks to get a series of views from both sides..... then they are always free to decide from a perspective of knowledge, and are better able to wade through all the ADVERTISING HYPE....
No-body here ever said the K&N were crap filters, just that they do not live up to the hype and BS from the advertising. And in some circumstances, they may be a waste of hard earned money... a lot depends on what you use the vehicle for, where you live, what your level of maintenance skill is, and how much you want to spend.....
Relating to the K&N or other oiled gauze type filters, there is a premium buy in cost, and an associated maintenance level, and the fact that technically speaking they are not really any better then the already good enough factory paper filter...
But hey ...really now, I doubt any body here would condemn or think ill of some fellow SuperDuty owner that decides to spend his money however he wants...
Personally, all I expect, is that when a neophyte comes in here and asks a question, that we all answer in an intellectually honest manner... like the PSD vs Gas, Ford Vs Dodge/Chevy or any other comparison... state your facts, (or opinion) and do NOT embellish the discussion. From there, whatever a free citizen in America wants to do is fine, natural, and we all should be extremely happy that we are fortunate to have the choices we do have.
In other parts of the world the discussion is controlled and the availability of ANY choices are limited or non-existent
Now I know this is a load of crap coming from me, especially since I am frequently quick to draw blood and hurt feelings of my fellow FTE Friends and neighbors. I like to think that I only behave this way when my BS metter is pegged by someone is posting factually incorrect information.... some times I am wrong. On the rare occasions when I am wrong, I appologise. BUT 100% of the time, my interest is to help Ford V10 powered vehicle owners...
I agree Fred, I'm all about helping people that don't know or ask for an opinion, but too often this turns into personal attacks and in reality the original question was pretty much answered in your last, extremely informative, post.
Discussion is fine, and answering questions is also fine, but in my humble opinion, arguing over whether or not a K&N is worth having is rediculous. It would be fine if it remained as a factual or PRODUCT opinionated discussion, but it never does. It always turns into a PERSONAL opinion matter. Who's stupid? Who's assanine? You see what I'm talking about?
We are very lucky in that we live in a country where we have choices and are entitled to our opinion's and the ability to voice them but when is enough, enough???? At what point is it just ranting and the male homosapien's need to "one up" the next guy?
