I voted speedboat but could have gone the other way too I guess. I am into classic boats from the wooden boat era. Stuff like Chris Craft, Hackercraft, Century, etc. But I also like the early type fiberglass boats like Glastron. I work on my free time on a boat museum for motorboats here in Sweden. Some day I will go to the show for classic boats at Lake Tahoe.
This summer I will try to get an aluminum race boat built in 1938 ready for some action. Built here in Sweden and did a couple of runs in 1938 at speeds around 44 knots. I will put a Chrysler Marine 6-cyl engine in it and see if I can make go any faster. / Hans
There are a lot of Folk Boats sailing in San Francisco bay, Svendsen's Boat Works (Alameda) built "phoney Folk Boats" out of fiberglass in the early 70's.
Bob Johnson the fiberglass genius made a mold from a wooden hull to reproduce them, faster than wood hulls.
Read other post and you'll figure out it was a 55 inch radio controlled boat. Beemer Nut had one and so did I. Just so long ago I can hardly remember it.
I chose "other" because I too would just want a fishing boat -- just something small and simple like a 16' aluminum V-hull. I like being able to get in shallow or beach it almost anywhere. With something like a 40 horse engine you can ski behind it too.
Of course if I could just HAVE any boat I'd take the yacht, and then sell it.
