I still have my first boat, 1985 Bayliner Capri with a 125 Force Engine, 18 footer.
I didn't know much about boats, but read up on them & found what suited my needs.
i live in Houston, approx. 45 minutes from Galveston, so water is nearby for fishing, crusiing & fun.
In my hometown, there are some mid & small size lakes, but my boat fits the Gulf better.
I would like to get a Jon Boat for small lake fishing though.
I voted "other" because I'd rather be doing whitewater in the wee boat I have had for 30+ years. Want a rush ? Chase the "river rat" solo. Run the river with others !! Doing it alone is stupid, the river can kill you. I meant- being solo in the boat.

Reason: add more
If I win a big Powerball jackpot, I'm buying or leasing a 50' yacht, maybe 75', and cruising the east coast, gulf, Mississippi, west coast maybe. It will have a reliable crew, including a couple Hooters girls
I also voted other because I prefer a fishing boat. I have a 14 foot crestliner aluminum boat. It is the perfect boat for me because I can fish anywhere I want around home. What is also nice is I only have a 9.5 horse outboard that burns very little gas so a day on the river doesnt cost much at all.
I have a Bayliner 18' with the 135 hp mercury I/O. Also have a Kawasaki 900 zxi jet ski. I still think it's better to have a friend with a boat than to have your own though. Cleaning, maintnence, repair, money and cleaning drives you crazy after a while. But to me its worth it when I'm out cruising around and enjoying the water.
I'd love to have a 25-35 ft sailboat. Something that the wife and I could crew without anyone else. I can't quite afford it yet, but I dream of a few months a year sailing the Carribean and just bummin. Maybe that will change as I get older - maybe not. Right now I have a nice fishin boat that I use all the time on the lake I live on (when I'm home) and a 13-6 airboat with an 0540 A/V on it. It's a blast to go blowin around with the sun and wind in your face listening to the thrum of the prop. Very relaxing.
I also have some trucks. They cost me more money and aggravation than the boats!
AFAIAC, they are a hole in the water in which you throw your hard earned money into.

Ya beat me to it!
The only thing better than having a boat/pool/hottub (insert here any other high-priced, high maintenance recreation item) is having a buddy/relative that has one! You can enjoy it every once in a while without paying a dime for normal upkeep/repairs/extra fuel or electricity.
