check engine light... p401 code

check engine light... p401 code

okay, i have replace the egr valve, cleaned the throttle body, replaced the dpfe sensor, now what should i do to get rid of this dam code. i have tried everything... please help

Welcome to the forum

Sounds like the EGR tube may be clogged. Try this, with the engine idling, apply vacuum to the egr valve, if the engine stumbles or dies, then it is working. If the idle doesn't change, then the tube or port in the intake is probably clogged.

i have already tried this and it seems to be working... thats why im so puzzled? dont know what i should do now....

Perhaps maybe you got a bad sensor? I am assuming that you bought a new one.

you still need to clear the code. It will clear by itself eventually, but oughtta do it now just to make sure there is no other problems.

i put a new sensor on and i did clear the code after putting it on and cleaning everything intensely. i drove for almost 45 miles and the light came back on... any ideas?

Did you actually remove the throttle body and clean the EGR ports?

That is what LxMan1 is referring to.

check the vacuum harnesses near the battery. If battery acid spills over onto them, it will cause this condition.(ssm 10787) oh yeah, you have an outstanding recall on your cruise control.

i havent checked my vacuum hoses by the battery, but if its not that, then what else could it be?
