People who say it can't be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

Why buy Jap when you can buy American. Also 7.3's have been around for a while and are good engines. But how good is a new Jap diesel. Maybe better than the 6.5's?

The Briggs in my lawnmower is better than a 6.5, and the duracrap will likely prove a worthy adversary in time, but as everyone knows: A stroke is the end of a heartbeat. :7

Friends don't let friends drive duramax's

How about how they're claiming the duramax's are so quiet. If I have a diesel, I want to hear it! I guess it's typical though. It needs to be quiet because we all know how the Japs like to make surprise attacks.

Is there a special rice additive that you can add to the diesel fuel to increase the torque rating and make the Duramax Diesel run quieter? Maybe soy sauce or rice wine would improve the fuel economy and raise the horsepower and torque.

Oh, they're quiet alright, except for the mystery knock. High oil pressure, what a joke!!

LOL

The only thing is that You can't tell just what is made in America and what is made overseas anymore.

The Duramax is a very nice motor. Yes it is foreign, but I don't know if it's made overseas. Izuzu from what I've heard is the largest small diesel manufacturer in the world, for what that's worth. In comparison to the 2001 PSD, the Dmax get's slighly better mileage, has more torque,(15ft/lbs) and has a larger towing compacity for most of its trucks. It has 50hp more, so obviously makes it faster. It also is A WHOLE lot quieter, if that matters. The main thing that I like is the Allison automatic. The 4r100 is a good tranmission, but the Allison 1000 is stouter.

This motor is a flight of stairs instead of a step above the worthless 6.5L TD. The 1997 and newer 6.5L's from what I've heard were stronger, but the earlier were worthless and everyone I've delt with was prone to self distructing.

Well please dont go nutz on me or anything i am a die hard ford fan. But this morning my parents made the decision to purchase a 2001 Cheby 2500hd duramax with the alison five speed. I love my 79 ford but i have to admit cheby actually seems to have it right. Its a nice truck. Thats all i can say the only thing wrong with it that i can tell is that it has that darn bowtie on the front of it. Just my two cents

Don't park your Ford too close to it. You don't want the paint getting scorched when the Chevy blow up.

Why don't you all get the facts first before just ragging on something. I like Ford and Chevy(i just like Chevy a little more) but im not trying to start anything, we all know it would never end anyways. Im proud of my country....but, just because something is made here in the great U-S-of-A doesn't mean its better. All I ask is that you look at the facts first.

I don't see how facts are relevant, most of the (Ford) guys in here are in this particular forum for the sole purpose of ragging on brand x, and y. Dosen't matter to us what the facts are ;-).

For the record, which facts were you referencing? This looks like a pretty solid thread to me.
