I have to agree with most here and say the comparison was slightly biased. The only true fault I could find in the article was in the towing dept comparison. Of course with comparable vehicles in power output, the vehicle with the least weight is always going to have an advantage. The Ford was already at a slight disadvantage with it's curb weight being higher than either of the competitors. Then they go and add extra weight during towing just because the GCWR is higher. Sounds like a good way to give the Dodge and Chevy an even bigger advantage.
When they compare sports cars you don't see this type of difference. The car with more HP/TQ doesn't get added weight it the trunk during the comparison. The car with a higher top speed doesn't have items attached to the body to reduce the aerodynamics. So why do this with the trucks unless you have an agenda?
I would really like to see this same comparison using the same trailer weight. Sure I'll admit the Chevy still might outpull the Ford in the speed dept, but it wouldn't be as noticable. As it was stated earlier, 1500lbs is a lot of extra weight.
I keep reading from some of you all that right now gm has a "superior drivetrain" with what I'm assuming is due in part to the allison tranny. How long have they been running this train, 5 or so years!?! I don't know about you guys, but it seems to me that 5 years or so is not really a test of longevity or durability, personally I'd have to give it a few more years before I made such a claim, but that's just me.
Valid point..........but you also would have to put the 6.0 and Torqueshift in your criteria as far as not being tested.
When I said superior I was referring to NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness,) power, smell, overall drivability.
Please go test drive an "LBZ" with 6 speed Allison and then give us your views.
Future durability not withstanding, The GM powertrain is the best light truck combo out there (nortce I didn't say total truck) This is includes my beloved V10....even though I'm still not convinced the extra 7K for ANY diesel is worth the price of admission for what I use a truck for.
my brother in law is a diesel mechanic here for GM according to him the new 6 spped allison isnt new. the previous allison 1000 was originally a 6 speed that they reduced down to 5. he is not the first erson i have head this from. apparantly the 6 gear is 2 sets of clutches ingaging together. so in other words its the same tranny as before
yep fords the bigger truck for sure lol seen alot of newer chevs with the ford mirrors when i first seen those mirrors on a chev i thought the guy put aftermarket mirrors on it but then i seen more of them liek that so i was like yep ford clearly set the bar to what a heavy duty pickup should look like they look dumb on a chev amazing on the ford as for the review no comment it was rigged lol everybody should take a look at that 2nd post (the picture of the big 3) and realize that ford is the truck that is on top of the sales for a reason cause ford always sets that bar to what a truck should be

i agree 100%. in the test the chevy may have been slightlty faster but it was also stated that the load was much more noticleable behind the chev than it was the ford. i think all the compairson tests done in magazines lean toward the company with the deepest pockets to fund the event if you know what i mean
I have an article in a magazine with the number of 3/4 ton and 1 ton diesel trucks sold in the last 10 years in north america. ford sold twice the diesels than chev, gm, and dodge combined. so what does that tell you

wel than thats it chevy payed the highest dollor for edmunds to consantract on there truck putting it on top nope cause if the trucks were configured at different weights Ford haveing the most, nothing puts the power and relibilty of a Ford!

Just watch a chevy commercial, "go to edmunds.com to compare chevy to the competition", yeah gm made a deal with edmunds do you think edmunds is gonna allow the competition to win, of course not then youd c the chevy commercial and go on edmunds.com compare and c that the competitior won. Tell me thats not the truth.
