John Deere Trimmers?

Hey all. Ive got a Honda trimmer that I bought last year and Im not all that happy with it. The engine is a work of art, but the head doesnt work right. It often doesnt feed line out correctly, so you have to stop and re-feed the line through and head and I had problems today with the head itself coming off a few times.
Im looking at getting a JD trimmer. Ive heard they are made by Homelite, any truth to that?
Im looking at getting an XT120LE. I only need it for trimming when my walkbehind mower cant reach, so 22.6cc should be fine. My Honda is a 25cc 4-stroke and it never lacks for power, so I should be fine with a 22.6cc 2-stroke.
Its got a lifetime warranty on the ignition module and the driveshaft, so it looks like a pretty decent unit.
Anyways, lemmie know what you all think about it.
Thanks.

Sounds like a pretty decent unit, my parents used to have one from the 80's. I remember doing about 3 miles of fencelines, plus a two acre yard every summer. Balanced, worked very well for almost ten years, then it either broke a reed valve or the rings wore out, I never found out which.

Echo. They're more expensive, but it should save you the torture of buying a couple more in the next decade.

Unless you buy a commercial John Deere which is a Kawasaki trimmer in yellow, its not worth it. Echo is a great alternative. Echo's model SRM210 is a great entry level machine at around $200 and its still commercial quality. if you asked me, they're one of the best deals on the market.

I use a Tanaka with 40 gazillion cc. and a big bunch of ponies. TBC-600 cuts everything whether you want it too or not!

Go with an Echo or a Stihl and you won't complain about the machine again.

Huskies make a decent one I guess, I know a guy who has one, haven't heard him complain about it yet but I have never used it.

Redmax makes a decent line of equipment too!

My neibor has a Stihl trimmer and he let me try it out one day. I didnt like it. Even if you wear earplugs it will blast your eardrums and the thing vibrates like crazy.
When I was a kid and did the lawn maintenace on my parents' yard we always had Echos and they were good units. I was looking at some at Home Depot before I bought the Honda and it looks like they really cheapened them up in the past 8-10 years since I used the one my parents had.
The Deere Im looking at getting in a commercial model, so I think I will be OK. I do appreciate the input though. Thanks again.
