Kinda know the feeling. We used to have a John Deere riding mower till I got it stuck between two trees and tore the transmission up in it. We then got a Snapper Self-Drive push mower, which wasn't too bad cause it propeled itself. That crapped out a few years ago and then I was back to doing it the push-method. Wish I hadn't tore up the riding mower....
Six acres? By hand????? No offense man, but you ARE nuts... Should I call the men with the white coats? I'd mow one maybe 2 with the pusher and ride the rest....
With 6 acres, I wouldn't call that exercise, that is more under the category of masochism. Good luck. I can't say I would disagree about getting the exercise, but that has to be an extreme, especially if you are not used to it.
And here I am trying to figure out how to get rid of the last patch of grass I have and replace it with ground cover or gardens of some sort. I hate to mow grass.
wow. on your standard bolts and scrapiron engine thats like, an oil change every time you mow! (if your into maintaining your lawnmower the way that briggs and stratton says they should be). Some people just enjoying pushing mowers. I mowed lawns 20 hrs a week while going to college- loved every minute of it. seriously!
I don't know if your on grass, but if I was mowing 6 acres with a push mower I think I might be 6 feet under it! By the time you get done won't you have to start all over?
I have a 42" Craftsman Rider mower (works wonderful) to mow the 6 acres here & today I bought a Craftsman 21" push mower to take it's place.
Bright idea I had to get some decent excersise. I forgot how hard work really was.
parks. . . . what are you thinking?!?!?!!?!?!?
Unless you are built like Mr. Universe, you will just get finished and have to start all over again!
Six acres man. . . . what are you thinking?!?!?!!?!?
And to answer your first three words. . . Yes, you are!!!
My lawn isn't so bad, but, when I cut my Dad's 1 acre, when finished, I think about driving to the retirement home and have them come out to get me!!!
The 911 at the end of your screen-name isn't such a bad idea, either!
I am now using the rider for the rough areas. About 4 acres that don't get used but like to keep mantained.
We are going to use the push mower for the 2 acres closer to the house. I started mowing around 2 p.m. and am not quite finished yet. Probally just a couple hours in the morning.
The rider doesn't have a bagger & I hate grass clumps. This push mower has the bagger, that is why I'm using it by the house to keep a neater appearance. Now I just gotta get a trailer for the rider so I don't have to run to the burn pile every 10 minutes with a baggy of grass. Just dump several bags in the trailer & haul to the burn pile.
Oh Yeah, It is self propelled but needs motivation in several areas that were neglected by the rider.
I'm loving it. I feel like I've recieved a whole weeks worth of excersice in one day.

We had 8 acres to cut by hand as kids. Between my Sister, Brother & I taking it in turns It would take a whole week & then have to start over. That is why I rethought what I was going to do.

Hey, Pat. I was in your area last night or should I say early this morning. Around 1-2 this morning. Didn't think you would be working so I made my normal stop at the 131 to get a drink & came on home.
I gotta ad
The 21" cuts much cleaner then that 42" rider. I also feel better about myself. That rider was making me fat & lazy.
