Radiator Support Help

Guys, I knew that there were a lot of simularities in the 65-79 trucks, and recently found that the floor pan in a 73 is identical to the 65, with a very noticable 3" extention added at the back. I had been keeping a 78 cab support to use as a donor to repair a 66, but have found there to be many differences.
Can anyone advise on the simularities of the 67/72 support with the 61/66 since the 73/79 is pretty much out.

Radiator Support Help

John, I have been hunting core supports since I first started working with 65 and 66 F100 series of trucks. Once I even found a 65 core hacked into a 64. A shame to, it was rust free. I recently spent 3 hours pulling a core at the local yard and decided that after all it was to far gone, some rust but mainly an amateur had arc welded on a couple of support brackets and burned several holes through the sheet metal. I found a good 66 core in Colorado and shipped it home. I am going to Texas soon (San Antonio)and will look some more. 65 and 66 are not the same, 65 has a flange to mount the radiator. They are out there and for sure a couple of the Tin Guys at Pigeon Forge will have some, not cheap. Saw one a couple of years ago NOS in the box...$600.00! Yikes.

Radiator Support Help

I tried, John, when I realized my '66 was beyond repair, but the sheetmetal experts who looked at mine and the later one said no way.(Of course the '64 is the same stamping)
It is my opinion that the '65 and '66 are not necessarily different. (2wd and 4wd might be) There are definitely two slightly different styles, each of which goes with matching inner fenders. The difference can be seen where the support meets the inner near the rad support mount.

Radiator Support Help

I did learn of the radiator wing thing between the 65 & 66, but that aint no biggie, I want to know if the 67-76 would be close enough to mate to the upper part of my 66 to make it work. I have a good 66 but also have a use for it. From 65 to 79 the width of the holes are the same. I have recently parted a couple of 73-79 series trucks and have those core supports but the bottom drops between the frame holes, and the outer ends are different. I can trade with somebody if they have a good 65/66.
