Damn it !

He said it probably over-heated ...fatigued , then and then failed probably from over use (ie:Having the computer running all the from being on FTE too much )
Eric, Why would I have them install thse parts instead of myself.
Do you think this is too much for me ?
I dont think it's out of my league.

About the gigabyte board, I talked to guy in Red Deer today who suggests one.
I'll look into it.
Thanks

But get this

I just tried booting up the other puter that fatigued and now it won't boot up at all.
At least before they ran the diagnostics on Tuesday and Wednesday the puter would boot up and run on 512MB of Ram.
Now Nothing.....Kaput !
Lights on ..nobody home

Could they have screwed it up more ?

I've blown at least five of them over the years, and a quality PS makes a world of difference.
One of them I know for sure had at least two main V lines just plain quit on it. I swapped it out with better than it ever had and used that PC in Virginia almost until I left.
The cause of at least one of them was a cheap 3.5 inch floppy that fried internally and it took out everything using the same voltage.

If it was me, I'd open the case and take a look at what is connected and what isn't.
They probably left some things hanging inside.
But the next move would be to unplug everything from the PS and check the voltages on all the plugs with a meter. Some will be five volts, some twelve.
I've had 240 watt PS's that had some lines (connectors) good, while others were bad.
Hey, we're stupid right? We're consumers - and we all know some of us use DVD units as convenient slide-out coffee cup holders... We AIN'T supposed to know how a multi meter works, or be able to spot stuff that is unplugged!
I'm a geek, I admit it! But I can also slam a one ton dually axle up in under a diesel truck that was never designed to have it...

I was under the impression I paid someone else to check the P/S (but did they ?)
Multi-meter out she comes....
I'm going to Calgary today to bring Michelle home for the weekend ad will be stopping by to pick up the new PC.
If this broken one gets fixed Michelle can use it instead of the other Aged one she;'s been playing Solitaire on ?
Me,well I'm moving on to new technology .....that will be obsolete in 8 months
