Peter94,I didn't realize how old the original post is.

After reading about your dad's last blowup,I do feel for you and your family, you dad sounds like a true psyco.

I would suggest to your mom if things don't get better with him seeing a phsycologist, that she divorces him and gets a restraining order...moving to another town where the police will actually enforce it.

The fact that he chances running her off the road, causing her to rear-end him,and basicly threatened to choke her to death makes me think he's capable of actually physicly harming her, you, your brother,or anyone else that makes him go off.

What is strange is that this is not the dad I know. My dad has a temper, but it NEVER used to escalate into anything like what he has been doing now. I'm seriously convinced that it is this drug paxil that is causing this.

I know how to push my dads buttons and get him mad, but it seems like since he's been on paxil he just goes over the edge into psychopath mode and cant control himself. He has seen a doctor and he's going to a psycologist, hopefully some counciling to get off paxil. After that I think things will be fine.

Whats ironic about this is he was a cop for 35 years and specialized in child protection. He knows if you hit someone out of anger its wrong. I just hope he can get off of this stuff. The withdrawl sympotms are even worse than the side effects.

Yeah, that drug messes you up.My friend's dad was on it and he's now in jail for 7 years on manslaughter charges when he killed a guy in a blind rage over him opening the door and hitting my friend's dad's truck with it.No damage or nothing.

They wouldn't let him take it in jail and he seems to be fine without it.They are pushing to get his case appealed witha mental disorder defense that would have his dad in a mental hospital for a year and then free upon evaluation from the medical board.

I bet the guy was a real nice person too and would have never freaked out about it if he wasnt on that drug.
