HX Question???

I put the hard line HX line on my truck about a month ago. I thought I had the lines tightened down and small leaks fixed, but after a 300 mile trip today I had a small leak again between the cap and the fitting. I managed to get it another quarter turn tighter, but I am wondering how tight is to tight? I do not want to break or stress anything. I have noticed improved engine smoothness but these small leaks are driving me nuts. Any similar experiences or advice would be appreciated.

did you use any pipe-dope on the threads? might want to add some if you didnt.

the guy helping me left his side a little loose, but after I tightened it, I have never seen a seep. my wife says i am a freak cuz i am always checking my trucks for leak. i just hate to walk out and see a puddle under my truck- other than the water from the a/c of course.

yeah, that all i used. the only problem really when getting it a little too tight is messing up the o-ring. if you do that, its always gone leak. keep an eye on it.

Just a quick question....

Did it make your engine quiter and run smoother ?? I've considered this option but want to get some replies first.

Also, after you put it on how long did you drive before it seemed to help ? I've heard that one must get rid of the air in the line before and noticeable improvement.

Thanks

It doesn't take very long to notice the difference, air is pushed out pretty quickly. On my truck I personally noticed that it's slightly quieter at idle, but cold start up is vastly improved. It used to idle funny for a few seconds when temps were around freezing, but now it levels off almost instantly.

It will run quieter as soon as you start it up.. As far the air in lines, i think you are referring to the fuel line mods. This is a high pressure oil line. On installation, one should oil the o rings and not over tighten. Putting sealant on the threads i don't think would help.. it is the o ring that really stops the oil.

It is the O-ring that stops the oil between the boss fitting and the engine, my leak is between the fitting and the cap which holds the line to the fitting, now it is not much of a leak, but I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my truck.

There will be some air in the HP oil lines - can't help it as you installed an air-filled line. I've heard that up to 50 miles normal driving is required to purge the line. It doesn't take long.

Mine is quieter and smoother at idle because of the HPX. It starts more evenly, too.
