Why did you have the starter rebuilt? Were you having problems before the rebuild of the starter? You could have a bad ring gear on your flex plate/flywheel. You could try rotate the engine by hand to get to a new location on the ring gear. I am not sure about your application, but some starters require shims to adjust the starter gear to ring gear orientation. Where there any shims on the starter when you removed the old starter?
i had the starter rebuilt because the abendix and some of the teeth were bad and i have a 1984 ford f-150 with a 351 windsor motor but i can't figure out what to do could it b the flywheel
If the teeth on the starter were bad there is a good possibility that the teeth of the flywheel are bad as well. Pull the starter out and look inside to check the condition of the teeth. If you can't see it directly use a ,irror and a flash light or feel w/ your fingers. I take it this truck has a manual transmission, since you are asking about the flywheel correct?
No I do not have yahoo instant messenger on my computer. Since your truck has an automatic tranny, then you have a flexplate not a flywheel. Check the teeth on your flexplate and then you will know if that is your problem. If it is the problem you are goint to have to pull the engine to fix it. Good luck.
