Cougar (the car) Problems

i have a problem with my car its a cougar when i start it, it starts to shake then die, but when i try to start it up again it starts fine and runs fine

could it be the O2 sensors?

Well Mike,what year is it and what size motor is in it?It sounds like it might just be a simple bleed back problem where the fuel in the fuel lines bleeds back into the tank,so I would try this first.When you first go to start it,dont crank it,just turn the key to on and wait 5 seconds,then turn the key off,then turn it back on,wait 5 seconds and then crank it over and see if it stays running.

Might be the head gaskets.
