I have an 06 f250 w/ 6.0. having a no start problem. If my truck is warmed up and sits for 5 min or so and try to start it, it starts fine. If it sits longer than that , no start. But if I wait about an hour and a half, it starts right up. Why would it not start if sitting for between 10- 90 min. Starts fine cold. WTF??? Any suggestions ? Thanks.
Need to post engine information during the no-start.
Also post any codes that you have.
Do you have any aftermarket theft protection systems or a remote starter ?
For most no-start troubleshooting, the information below is a great help:
FICM MVolts, LVolts, PVolts
ICP psig
ICP volts
IPR % Duy Cycle
FICM sync
Cam/Crank sync
Mass fuel desired
Fuel pulse width
rpm
Fuel pressure would be nice if you have added-on that sensor and gauge.
Also, any recent maintenance been done?
What is the fluid and filter change history (oil and fuel primarily)? OEM filters?
Secondary fuel filter bowl fill up quickly?
Oil filter bowl filling up quickly?
Getting an oil pressure reading on the dash?
Checked the engine harness wiring to sensors for chaffing?
Load tested the batteries recently? Checked all battery connections including the grounds?
No maintainable done in a few months...not needed. Have not checked voltage to ficm. Did take it knecths and they checked the alternator voltage and said " with everything on, voltage was dropping and not coming back up." Bad alternator.? Took it to autozone and said the alternator was fine. No aftermarket gauges.
Being an 06 I would like to see the numbers on the High Pressure Oil Pump (HPOP) when this is happening. Sure thing is Cold Start, Warm No Start, usually points to the Snap to Connect fitting. The 5 min start is odd when warm, so is this at operating temps or you just let the truck warm up at an idle?
I agree John, it would be good to start there rather than asking for every possible PID as I did. I did that because the issue seems to be a little odd. I do think that he needs to prove that batteries and alternator truly are functioning properly as well (and I am not yet convinced that the alternator is 100% OK).

I think I've narrowed it down to the STC. Too big a job for me. Assuming I take this in to be repaired, should I have egr delete done? My truck is an 06 6.0 with 200k and bone stock. Is it worth the money or just leave it. It's been fine so far!!

Most likely culprit is dummy plugs, followed by STC, standpipes and then oil rail o-rings.
Easy test is to pull the ICP sensor and check if oil is to the bottom of the threads.
Another is an air test of the HPO system to narrow down which of the Big 3 it is.
However, being an 05+ I would always recommend updating the STC anyways, to avoid a not if, but when situation.
A very late update. Turns out the dummy plugs were bad. I did the repair myself after watching a youtube video. Wasnt bad at all. 3 hours to do both sides. I bought a Milwaukee cordless ratchet that was a lifesaver and a huge timer saver. Thanks to all.
