I was looking at it the wrong way, shaving the inside of the head to make MORE of a depression, rather than shaving area off to bring it all closer together. Thank you ALL for educating me on that.
Anyways, glad to know I don't have an EGR...so what does this do for me, what does it impair if anything, and can I remove it if I get an intake? What about the little hose on the other side, not sure where it goes, looks like a vacuum hose?

Zach, you shave the head-to-block mating surface, which reduces the combustion chamber volume in the head. You can also reduce the thickness of the head gasket to do the same thing.
Thanks Bob, I got that after you guys explained it. Makes a lot more sense now lol. No worries of making the head weaker? Or is it so little as to not matter? I can't imagine needing to shave a lot. And is the head gasket really that thick?
You won't want to raise the compresion much, ahead gasket may be all you want, a speed shop would be able to tell you the particulars for your motor, and the best route to go. Raising the compresion will require a higher octane fuel, a chip more than likely will any way, but to much, and you'll be into race fuels, and with gas price's today....YIKES!, a small bump will improve your power, as it will complament your cam, head work, and headers. Someone on here may have more specifics on the ohv 4.0's, but if not, a good speed shop could recomend a good package for your goals.
Sadly I didn't order it from them...I wish I had now, at least it'd be here by now. I got it off eBay...so no surprise on the long shipping. This guy I bought it from apparently has a record for insanely long shipping times. I'll take it up with PayPal if he takes too long.
On the other hand, I got another item coming in, so at least I should have something amusing to entertain myself with until it gets here. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll both get here in one day, that would be fun!
im considering getting one for my truck, the stock shifter is really sloppy and why rebuild the stock one with plastic bushings when you can upgrade. just did my rear brakes a few weeks ago, drums hadnt been off it since new, 13 years! had to hammer the hell out of 'em to break the rust bond between the drums and the axle flange. too bad you cant use the fill plug of the trans as a vent location, id just drill, tap and thread in a air solenoid breather if it would work, think id just create a oil leak though. guess i'll cross that bridge when the time comes. got a new summit catolog today and it didnt have the hurst listed. my jegs book does though. (and its closer anyhow, im about 15 miles from deleware where jegs is located)
I can't wait 'til mine gets here. I'm HOPING I can figure a way to make a vent either in or around the shifter. I'll figure it out and let you guys know!
Make sure you keep the topic going somewhere, are the mods will shut it down!!!!!!
no this has nothing to do with it. if you read the forum rules you would understand. We do not allow personal attacks. Talking badly about companies and or unproven OPINIONS. As long as it runs within the rules (which i dont make) you can talk about whatever you want.

Ok...call me lost after you two guy's posts. BUT WHATEVER!!!
Anyways, I'm still waiting...yep...maybe today I don't know. I have to run to the post office and back to the school. I'll be home before work though, I'll update them. Hopefully SOMETHNG will come in today (be in my new license, my Hurst, or the gauge bezel).
