Make sure you keep the topic going somewhere, are the mods will shut it down!!!!!!
OK I will say this once and no more Matt is the Moderator here, I am backing him up and so is Ken. If he closes a thread then it needed to be closed. If he does something you disagree with email me. If you email me we will talk, if you take it on the forums.......well, I can only imagine you know that is not the way to handle anything, and you all know the attitude I will take from that point on.
Hey Zach, the shifter will look sweet in your truck. did you see the shifter boot in goofin's piture? It looks like it maybe a hurst product as well. Hey goofin, what boot is that in your piture, is it a hurst?
thats all hurst stuff. didnt turn out bad at all. directions are clear and they even tell you how to cut the boot to fit the factory console. its a litle shorter than the stock handle but not uncomfortable
I leave my seat a little forward anyways, easier to reach the clutch and stick...and I'm not worried about the airbags, since I don't have them! lol.
So yeah...mods...thanks for that little refresher...can we take it elsewhere? I don't see why that's in this topic to begin with. This isn't a product bashing topic...to say the least.
Man I can't wait to get this thing, it's starting to irritate me though. It's been over a week since we bought it and nothing from the seller.
one thing you need to get for the install. threadlocker, whether its permatex or loctite. the shifter handle is bolted on with two bolts. they should be a shouldered bolt the same diameter as the holes in the shifter, but hurst didnt look that far ahead.
ive emailed hurst to let customer service know.
So what about the rattles everyone talks about? Does it cause any problems, or is it irritating? Will my Flowmaster drain it out so I won't hear it? If not I think I'll try the way I saw mentioned on here somewhere, drive down the highway fast at night and adjust the screws that way.
mine only rattles if the shifter handle is loose. maybe a bad tranny mount may cause extra vibrations too. the shifter is noisey as it shifts, you can hear the detents as you move it. im sure the flowmater will drown it out
i know how you feel about waiting.. ordered a tonneau cover and they said it would take three days fed ex but now its comming dhl and not gunna be here till next week.. Go figure
Gotta love that. I hate Sundays too...no shipping. What kinda crap is that. Sunday I could be working on my truck, I don't want to wait on parts! And I just know with my luck it'll get here Monday or Tuesday and something will come up. That's how my luck goes. Spent most of the day today working on the truck...installed new driving lights behind the grille, got kinda carried away and decided to do the thermostat as well. Let's kill the guy who put it where it is, and let's kill the guy who made it sound so easy in the Haynes. Ended up also doing a little detailing and cleaning under the hood and on the tranny. All fun though. I need some antifreeze though (man it sucks being under 18...can't buy it...).
I was REALLY hoping the Hurst or gauge bezel would show up today, so at least I could do one of them, but of course, nothing. No surprise there. Oh well...maybe tommorow! (I come home during early release at 2:10, and the first thing I do is look on the front porch to see if anything is there lol)
I have a Hurst short throw shifter on my Tremec TKO in my 1985 Mustang GT and I loved it even though it did rattle some....I have the big chrome stick with a bitchin Hurst T-handle on it....you really rip gears with that thing!!!!
Hurst has alot nicer ***** than the one that comes with it, but it will do untill you decide what **** will look the best on your truck. I bought the fx4 level 2 shifter, and ball, also boot, and shifter base. I t's a sharp ball, but the stealership charged me 90.00$ for it, 110.00$ for the shifter, 39.00$ for the boot, and 100.00$ for the level2 shifter base (OUCH!!). I got close to 400.00$ in my shifter to get the look I wanted. I called summit racing about a hurst, but they said that they didn't make one for the 04's yet. I'm thinking since the tranny hasn't changed for a while, that maybe they just hadn't updated thier listings. "O well", too late now, the level 2 is a nice looking piece, but it still doesn't have the close shifts like a hurst. It still shifts better than the stock one, and looks awsome, but for 400.00$, it should, lol.
