I wish I could Zach, but I don't have a scanner or anything, I just have a basic pc. But all is not lost, if your local ford dealer has a fx4 level 2 ranger with a 5-speed manual, it would be the same as mine. Also if you have a post office box, or something, pm it to me sometime, and I can send you a piture through the mail. I plan on picking up a scanner-printer soon, so I can post some pic's.
I built my own level2 for around 2 grand with ford parts, except for the tru-trac rearend, and I didn't buy the bilsteins from ford. I didn't put on the front skid plate, but I did the other two, and rear towhook. I have a rubber floor instead of carpet, but I perfer it that way. They charged me 280.00 for the level2 instument cluster, and a 100.00 bucks to install it. The only thing that I couldn't duplicate, was the 4-door supercab, my rear doors don't open. I paid 21,000 for my 04 xlt 4x4, 4.0,5-speed, and 410 gears, and 2 grand for the level2 stuff, for a grand total of around 23,000, I even got the decals for the bed. I don't mean to sound cheap, but when I bought my truck, they only had one level2, and it was an automatic, so I decided to build my own, I am happy with the way it turned out. I have another 2 grand invested in engine mods, so the price is still getting up there, but it screams!
Hi Zach, I cannot apologize enough for the delay with this item. It is looking like I will not be able to fill this order for 2-3 more weeks due to product backorder that I was not notified of. I will promptly refund your purchase, upon your reply to this email, assuming you do not want to wait for this any longer.
Got that this morning. Great...2-3 more weeks...how fun. I don't want to stick it to the guy (no pun intended...) for something he didn't expect and I assume has no control over. But I'm calling a couple of performance places around here when I get some to see if they have it, if they do I'll get the refund and buy it. I'm sick of waiting, especially considering it was supposed to be a birthday gift almost two weeks ago.
I don't know Zach, if you got a good deal, it may be worth the wait, but if someone else can match it, or come close, then get your refund, and start short shifting. Have you given some consideration to a shifter boot while your waiting? I don't think your stock boot will look so good with the hurst, it will hide it at best, and thats assuming it will fit over the hurst. Your a smart guy, I'm sure you allready have a plan!
Zach, I forgot to ask you, but are you gonna go for the pre-runner look, or slammed? I saw pitures of your truck, I thought it would look awesome with a 3" lift, a set of 31's, and some 410 gears witha good lsd, and some offroad lights, maybe some skid plates. With your planned motor mods, it would be a blast on the beaches, or in the desert. I guess a lot of guys your age, like the lowrider look, either way, your truck looks awesome, I love that color of blue!
Ya my 94 was great i got 33's with only 2 inch leveling coils and front fiberglass.cost me around 1,000 to do everything..lift, fenders, pulling bed sides ($25), tires, posi and 4.56's. i have a picture in my gallery if your looking to do that look for cheap. the only thing is the back didnt sit that low theres like 1,00lbs of rocks in the back of it.
I'm not a big fan of the lowrider look, but I have 2WD, so I don't see me offroading a lot, especially considering I live in Dallas, and the beach is a real good ways away from here sadly.
I was just going to use the boot that came with the Hurst unless I can find something else. I don't have a problem with it.
I'm not really sure what "look" I'm going for. You have suggestions? I'm all ears. I would like to up the power, first and foremost.
Gears will make the biggest difference then any other mod minus a supercharger. with the manual trans a 4.10 with 31's and 4.56 with 33's is about the most you would want to go. it will make you about 3000 rpm at 75-80mph. And just because you have a 2wd doesnt mean you caint off-road, agressive tiers and a good posi or locker will do wonders.
When I ask summit, they said the shifter didn't come with a boot, the rubber thing that the piture shows in the catolog was a dust cover, or something to that effect, so I don't know. I think your truck would look awesome as a pre-runner. Thats the look I went after, i sent you a piture of my truck, they should be there anyday now. You wouldn't have to do the decals, unless you like them, but this was the first white truck I've owned, and it just looked so plain. As 06fx4 said", with a good set of gears, a good lsd, or locker, and some tires, it would be almost as good as a 4x4. Some offroad lights, skid plates, and decals, it would stand out in the crowd, and the chicks would love it.
I think I'll start lookin' into gears before too long...these 3.08s just don't cut it, but I know quick acceleration through first is gonna get even quicker with new gears.
