I'm positive that you can silicone that housing and it will hold. Just don't be a cake decorator. Use just enough to fill the groove and a tiny bit more. Let it cure for the night and put it back on in the morning and you'll be good to go.
I agree with kwik. If worse comes to worse, the silicone will work fine. I use Permatex The Right Stuff Gasket Maker silicone for many o-ring applications (On various cars) that were hard to find and never had a problem. You wouldn't believe how great that stuff seals once it hardens.
no put the two halves together while the silcone is fresh. then let it set so the silicone doesn't blow out
Yes. Sorry about that Strokin_it, I should have been more clear. Put it together immediatly after you apply the silicone.
Make sure that the two mating surfaces are oil free.
I too checked with Ford for that o-ring and came up with the same result - no individual parts sold for the turbo. I wonder if you could get it from International or possibly from Garrett (turbo guys, not BCDP)?
nah, i need it today. last night i wirewheeled it, so i have to clean it and maybe walnutshell-blast the housings and then clean them very well and then put the right stuff in. so iguess i need to put the actual backplate and wheel on, and have that as the last thing to do, correct?

Yes, that is the final step before reinstalling the housing.
