Turbo Pedastal O-Ring questions

Well apparently my truck has decided to develop it's first oil leak. Unfortunately it's not the HPOP line o-rings that I still have about 10 of in my desk drawer. It appears to be the turbo pedastal o-rings since I've got a little oil in the valley below the turbo. Front of valley and HPOP lines at heads are dry.

Now for the questions. The list of O-rings on 7point3 does not have an o-ring size listed for the turbo pedastal large o-ring. Anyone know this o-ring size?

The manual also says to replace the compressor manifold o-ring seal when pulling the turbo. Anyone have the specs and size of this one?

How long will it take to replace these and where's the best place to stand while doing so?

This weekend probably isn't the best time for me to replace the O-rings. What's the odds of a small leak (around 2 qts in 5000 miles) turning into a big leak and leaving me stranded?

I did a search and found https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...dastal+up+pipe where kwikordead suggested all sorts of other possibilites for my leak. Since I live out in the country and will do this on a weekend what are the must have parts before I tear into this? No signs of up pipe leaks and I still have the same MPG average I did when I first broke the truck in.

Sorry for the long post and thanks for the help.

Have o-rings that i'm going to use on mine but there is no number on them. Can't remember where I got them before I deployed last year. I look some more.

Go to ITP diesel. They have a package that includes (2) sets of O-Rings, enough to replace both the "Pedestal to Block" and "Turbo to Pedestal" seals. Whether you're doing turbo work or need to fix a leak, this set has you covered.

Thanks. 7point3.com has the Ford part # listed, but there is a place near my office that sells O-rings much cheaper. I was hoping for a description like the #202 viton o-rings used on the fuel bowl.

Anyone know how long this will take doing it for the first time so I can figure out if I have time to mess with it this weekend?

The first one measures out to be about a -013, but the second measures "in-between" standard sizes.

These might be metric-sized, though there's no standard metric-size o-ring close, either. Anybody know?

Chris, for the first time taking the turbo and the pedistal off allow 3 hrs. Its not hard just awkward laying on top of the engine reaching back to the firewall. I got the FOMOCO o rings two weeks ago when I did the van turbo. 15.36 for pedistal to block, and turbo to pedistal.

Dont worry about your compressor manifold oring(unless you tear it while removing the spider) you can always use RTV to help seal that up in a pinch.

I just finished measuring my new set:
Large o-ring
width 1/8
id 13/16
od 1 1/16
According to McMaster Carr those dimensions equal a dash #211

Small o-ring
width 1/8
id 7/16
od 11/16
Dash # 205

Those sizes are nothing like the measurements from the "other site"..

These make more sense.

I've made the changes at 7point3.

Erebus has it.
Large O-ring:
-211:
O.D.
Nom:1-1/16"
Act: 1.176"
I.D.
Nom:13/16"
Act: .796"
Thickness
Nom:1/8"
Act: .139"

Large O-ring:
-205:
O.D.
Nom:11/16"
Act: .699"
I.D.
Nom:7/16"
Act: .421"
Thickness
Nom:1/8"
Act: .139"
As a side note, the -211 is a fairly common ring included in many o-ring kits. No such luck with the -205. Good luck trying to find that one without ordering from McMaster or Ford, etc. Which stinks, because that is going to be the one that goes if one of them decides to leak.

Edit: Clux beat me to it. We seem to have a consensus.

Hey pop, how did you do that? Do you have to go in through the help network membership?

There is some information on there that is wrong, and some more that I could add.

PM me and I will add and change as necessary.

And yes, if you are a member, I believe you can edit that table.
