1997 F250 Heavy duty with click/clunk heard from teh underbody. I believe suspension or drivetrain. I believe drivetrain because i had a 98 chevy truck that if you really rocked it from left to right by the tail gate you could hear teh axles moving and smackin back and forth. This sounds similar to that. This only happens in my ford when i go over a certain bumps or an angled road...(inclined road meeting a flat road). Wondering if anybodies had this issue or experienced it.
probably the front spring bushings mine also does it and it got worse after my leveling kit was installed. since the ttb front end put more twist on the spring they wear out the bushings.
Hey may also want to check out the balljoints mine would pop when i turned sharp or hit a pothole. Also agree with tjbeggs those bushing cause some problems.
balljoints we're done 30000 ago....but im still going to check those..and what's this "ttb" tjbeggs talked about? also..i oiled my bushings adn it seems to be gone...only heard it once. so because of this one time...it's still obviously there. When you talk about body mounts..do you mean body to frame!? those bushings??
Check the upper front leaf spring shackle bushing where it is bolted to the frame.. these bushings are rubber and wear out. there is a steel bushing in there and if the steel bushing is touching any part of the shackle or one side of the rubber bushing is gone then it will clunk often as you discribe. The shackles are exposed to a lot of side and off camber loading due to the TTB design. Just replaced mine with polyurethane bushings. also have superlift 4 inch springs that use poly bushings as well as new everything for the front suspension. the bushing for the TTB where it bolts to the frame will also do the same thing if it is worn. Be forwarned that they are a b@#$h to get out if you are planning on changing them yourself... a cutting torch is highly recommended as well as a long pry bar and big hammer.
