I'm sure my truck would hit 140MPH easily if it didn't go airborne first. I will say this is for certain: I will never find out. I have a wife and kids. I live on the edge a little you could say but I would never jump off the edge just to see if I could survive the fall.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Oct-02 AT 00:49 AM (EST)]Hey Guys I have been following this post for a while now and so today(the first day I drove my truck to school) on the way to town I gave her some juice (my economy machine 302 and a 4 speed) and I reached 95 MPH and I still had pedal left. So I believe that 140 can be attainable from a FE big block with a shot of the funny stuff.

Im a typical teen, i just have to change it!
I have a '69 Ranger, 428 CJ with a C6. I lowered the front 5" and the rear 9". It's tubbed for a 12" tire with the leaf springs under the frame. 140 mph is harder than you think even with a 1.750" sway bar and 1 ton springs. I turn an easy 120 in the quarter at high 10's. That last 20 mph..... I'd like to see it done without blowers or nitro. Otherwise, if you can hlod on to the wheel and keep it straight, a blower or nitro is the only way you will get mine to go that fast. $10,000 all I'm putting into mine. Limit met.
I can belive you. my 70 1/2 ton smoked a 98 dodge 1/2 ton 318. the dodge shut down a 115. this is not something to de every day. old trucks only hold together so long without complete restoration.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-Nov-02 AT 01:48 PM (EST)]For all of you ford nuts who are interested in hearing more about the 140mph 3/4 ton ford he has a 390 block and is in the process f looking for a 428 crank and rods for it.... P.S. he got booted off for vulgar language.
>there nothing in the world like the sound, feeling of an old
>FORD blasting down the interstate with room in the back for
>the hay!
Do us all a favor and if you are able to achieve this speed do it on a drag strip or closed circuit, not the interstate. At 3000+ pounds you are endangering a lot more than just yourself!

I no longer have the need for speed...however...my 72 f100 can muster 100 miles an hour on a long long down hill run...
It won't bother me if my stereo has more power than my engine...lol

I did notice that this thread was started back in September. Wonder
