Have you done it yet? I'd like to make one, but have no idea where to start? Plenty willing to learn though.
Not yet, but I do have a nice set of instructions that someone made up a few years ago as well as the control box, switches, wiring, 42 pin connectors, etc. It's in PDF format. PM me with your email address and I'll send it to you. Anyone else interested, PM me as well.
ok guy you need to understand one thing. codes in a computer don't give the diagnoisis they don't tell you whcih sensor to replace or any of that other stuff. codes are the starting point. a scanner is not good without diagnostic info to diagnose the problem! i deal with this stuff everyday at work. there are a few codes on certain vehicle that when we see that code we know what part to replace but aht comes after much expereince between 3 techs.
codes are the computers way of telling you where to start. but also many time a cps failure may not set a code. but have you ever tried to fix an intermittent problem?
my truck runs bad sometimes? the first place i got is to my snap-on scanner and see what the computer is telling me. i look at data and codes. to be honest with you if it weren't for codes and diagnostic info we would all be in trouble!
One thing to remember about the SES light, and its part of the programming for all the vehicles on the road: If it's on steady, it's a "yellow flag" problem like the P1211 and others that come along with a modified engine tune/chip.
If it comes on and is flashing at you, pull over and get a tow. It's letting you know that there is engine damaging problems happening at the time.
The flip side of the flashing SES light is that the engine will be running so bad that you will not be paying much attention to that little light at that time!
