2000 7.3 dead pedal??

The truck starts and idles great.

When you hit the acc pedal the SES light comes on and it doesn't rev up or anything....

I check the plugs on the acc assembly all looked fine, and clean.

I cannot get the code, I try to scan it and it says no codes, I run it and hit the pedal so the SES light is on and it still says no codes...

I just can't throw parts at it...the company would not like that LOL

Any help would be great. Thanks

Check your fuses. Here is an article I wrote for that very problem.

The switch on my 2000 F250 pedal assembly got misaligned once and I had the exact same problem. I took the pedal assembly out (3 quick bolts as I remember), aligned the switch, epoxied the switch in place so it wouldn't move and haven't had any more trouble since 2005.

I had the same problem this fall. It was a fuse that I had removed to check and put it back in the wrong slot.

Throttle position sensor...okay sounds simple enough, where is that located on the 7.3? I know the 6.0 like the back of my hand, but not the 7.3 LOL

Well, let me give you guys some info on it, I pulled the truck out started great, drove fine, no problems.

I put it in PARK, letting it warm up, I get back in it put it in DRIVE and "dead pedal" Does that sound like it would be the throttle position sensor?

Its been that way since, we have another 7.3 I was going to try and swap pedal assemblys out of but they have different plugs.

Someone threw out the cam sensor, but I thought that would just cause the truck to stall out and die?

Tyler,

The key to fixing this may be connected with the shift lever.

There's a wire that goes to the end of the shift lever that shuts off "overdrive". That wire may have shorted out under the top steering column cover.

Go back and re-read Ken's statement in Post #4.

Okay, I just read thru that and it also says if the gauges are not working.

I will check it out first thing and see what I can find!

Thanks again, if that fuse is good and the wire looks good, where do I go from there?

TPS is the throttle assm on these trucks. older trucks have two switches, newer ones are combined into one. Most probable cause is the Idle Validation part of the switch is bad or dirty. If the computer doesn't "see" the IVS signal change, it won't go. Some folks have had good luck fixing this by pulling the pedal assm out and cleaning it with contact cleaner and compressed air. Me, I had to swap mine for a new one. they are availible from Ford or your local parts house.

So first thing, I went out to the truck, its an f-450 bucket truck if this helps.

Looked for a fuse #45, and didn't show one in the owners manual, I started it and tryed the OD button and it still lights up fine.

Im going to sawp cam sensors with another good running 7.3 here and see if it fixes it, if not I guess ill go and buy another pedal assembly.

Here's the wire woodnthings was talking about I believe, I checked it and it was not chaffed or broken as far as I could tell.

I would think the ivs as well. Not sure what years it's integrated into one assembly. The ivs is a micro switch and should be able to hear it click on/off as you press and release the pedal. If you try that test I would do it with the key off so it's easier to hear.
