NoMo, If your fuel is breaking down in 4-6 weeks thats some damn poor fuel. I mean even at 6 months your fuel should have no ill effects. I would save the money you'll spend on stabil and just add a good injecter cleaner when you fill next time. Of course this is my personal opion, but after working in a motorsports faciltiy for a few years (snowmobiles, 4 wheelers, jetskis, & motorcycles) my personal opinion of stabil is poor at best. What we found it made more of a difference to either store it with no fuel at all or with a full tank. I personally like to have a full tank as you'll never get a vehicle tank completely dry and hence it'll just collect moisture. If you fill it up all the way there is no place for moisture to form. We would also start them up and pull the fuel lines to emty the carbs/injectors and fuel lines running in the engine compartment. The only thing we would fog were jetskis since no matter how much you dry run them they allways have water in them some where. When it would come time to get them out again it was as simple as slapping in some new plugs, connecting the fuel lines, charge and hook up the batteies and away you go! This is just my take on storing stuff but then again about the longest anything would be in storage was about 8 months but we never had a fuel related problems.

out here on the east side we have the rotten stuff year round.it breaks down in a few weeks time.you can smell the difference when you pour it out of a can. i'll keep taking no chances in my machines. besides i've retired and can't afford new carbs/injectors now on my toys
I cann't imagine getting fuel that is that terrible. The only rotten gas that I have smelled came out of my W6 Tractor that had been sitting out in the trees for 6 years, oh I take that back; we drained the tank on my wifes car that she drove back in highschool. It was parked out back for 11 years when my father inlaw decided to turn it into a little buggy with a box for around the farm (I think it was 78 chevette), now that was some of the worste smelling nastiest crap I had ever smelled, heck I complained about it for like two week because I could smell it in my truck for two weeks and all I did was have some on my shirt when I left!
it is that bad, benzine and to much grain spirits, this stuff smells bad comeing out of the pump never mind after it sits a while. i can feel it in the boat and have several 2 stroke carbs go bad on my machines from it. summer stuff is better but not by much.
I agre with Charlie on this one. We keep a boat down in southern maryland and after about 2 months it starts affecting the performance. I forgot to put Stabil in it last winter and inthe spring thought I had severe engine problems until I burned that tank and filled with fresh, then it ran perfect. After about a month you start to notice a difference.
Wow, like I said we've run sleds, jetskis, motorcylces, and ATVs all on at least 6 month old gas and haven't had any problem. I suspect that maybe being by the coastline has something to do with your guys poor fuel. I would imagin all that humidity and such just collects the more it sits! here in ND the geographical center of north america is located within a two hour drive from my house so you can imagine we have no "ocean" effects here, lol! Anyway to stay on topic I still have to recommend the cheveron but someone also stated to use seafoam earlier in this thread. I have used it a few times and have been told that its pretty good stuff but I really haven't ever noticed a much of a difference using it.....or any them for that fact. I still have a tendency to run some through now and again and mayb e this is why I can never notice a difference.
And for some reason, I can leave gas in my '89 Honda for years and it still runs well, nothing gummed up, etc. But, I leave the petcock open so liquid gas can flow into the carb.
No problems, whatsoever.

I wouldn't say the fuel goes 'bad'. The mowers & trimmers don't seem to mind gas that is 6 months old, but the truck does ping a little more after a month or so when not using sta-bil. I really just need to get out & drive more... the truck is almost a year old and I have 5600 miles.
thats my problem now also. since nov it's only gone 1400 miles . same with my small boat,gas was from last june. man did it smell bad .and that had sabilizers in it. the other boat with the diesel no problems that started right up yesterday and ran sweet. 1.7 L 120 hp turbo tied to a alpha gen 2 drive, cummins/mercruirser. only the motor is built in korea by kabuta not cummins. cummins just marineizes and ties it to the merc drive/transome units for merc.
I have personally used Marvel Mystert Oil for 20 years on all vehicles (carb & EFI), both for storage and for EFI maintence. For EFI maintenance, you can either run 1 ounce per 10 gallons with each fill up or add 12-16 ounces per 15 gallons every 6 months. Since using it I have never had to have EFI system purged. If you do need purging, BG products (no, not Barry grant Products) makes an excellent throttle body (non-damaging to the internal protective coating) , efi cleaning system (which is used by most OEM dealers), who will sell to you also. If you have trouble accessing, contact BG Products on the net and they will get you in touch with a distributor.
mmo=dextron weather you know it or not,and b&g products not for me ever. just big name dealer items used to jump up repair work.each to his own here ,just if i think i need wmo i'll use the same amount of atf and do the same thing chaeper.it's the same for oiling my air tools ,snap-on or who ever sell you a air gun oil, all it is ,is atf in a smaller bottle. been that way for 42 years that i know about and have used the stuff
