My brother has a 2001 psd 7.3 . ( I have a 2002 7.3) he had rough running problems. Dealer sold him Ford brand injector cleaner for 50 bucks a can. I think it was called G44 or something like that. He actually ran 2 can through it and says it runs much smoother now. My question is The local truckstop sells Diesel injector cleaner for 23 bucks a gallon. The local mech. There says to use about 7 oz per tank every 5000 miles. Has anybody ever used any of these cleaner or the ones you can buy at wal mart for diesels? I think the Ford brand is quite a bit overpriced for Injector cleaner. Jeff
power service / diesel kleen / stanadyne performance / howes. in my opinion are the best and provide the same result. I do my best to stay away from the stealerships unless its international for engine parts. You will have to be happy with your decision in anything you do. we can only advise from our experiences. enjoy and take pride in your ride.
From the posts I've read, most use the Diesel Kleen from Walmart. White in the winter, Grey in the summer. I will put between 10 and 15 oz in every fill. There are other brands that work as well such as Stadyne (sp?)

Show me something that Ford sells that isn't overpriced.
I have used diesel injector cleaner that I bought from Farm &Fleet it was Gunk brand I beleive and it worked really well it only cost me $5.50 for a bottle and it was for 35 gallons I have used it twice now and it works well
I've used both Stanadyne and Diesel Kleen. Right now I have Stanadyne in the tank and I'm getting 18.5mpg. But when I feel up I'm going back to Diesel Kleen which I was up to 20.5mpg. The Diesel Kleen is cheaper to.
I now use "Diesel Kleen" religously. I tried it once and there was actualy a noticeable difference. Diesel Kleen is also a cetan booster (which you can tell) and I don't know about the others but
it's worked well for me.
About a year ago, Kwikordead advised me on a product called diesel purge by "Lubro Molly" or something. I ordered 4 cans, $8 a piece and ran them directily through the fuel pump, fuel bowl, and returned it to a 1 gallon can until all was used. Smoothed things up a lot, I would do it again. Maybe Kwik will chime in with more info.
Just bought my first PSD a few weeks ago and am using Diesel Kleen with every fillup. Walmart has it for 5.50? a quart or 12.50?? for a 3 quart jug. I've been running 1/2qt per tank.
Truck runs fine and has started to run better with each fillup.
My dad ran some on his last tank. He ran a whole quart and noticed a big difference in smoothness and a little mpg.
