Hey, just wondering everyone's thoughts on injector cleaners. What do you use... how often? Any brands to stay away from? I hear alot of good things about Lucas products, but never used any.

One small can of Seafoam in the gas tank every other month or so. Cleans the fuel system and injectors just fine. No other additives at all.
I have used AMSOIL's P.I. with excellent results in my truck and cars. Have used Saefoam in the past with good results BUT you might want to stay away from Seafoam if you live in an area that uses E-10 due to the alcohol content.
I use a can of seafoam or B-12 Chem every oil change. At work if a truck has a bad case of clogged injectors they run a can of BG 44K through it. It is about $25 a can but damn it works good.
I have used the Lucas products before, with no adverse effects,Couldnt tell any positive results either, but I can say Ive NEVER had an injector issue..perhaps it is good...

Care to explain to me what the problem is with using Seafoam in fuel with ethanol? There are only two places here to get non-ethanol fuel which is what I buy and drive 15 miles, round trip, to get it.
But I used to use the E-10 fuel in my lawn tractor and atvs and had problems from the fuel but adding Seafoam always cleared the problems up.
In fact, in most forums that I visit about motorcycles and atvs, Seafoam is highly recommended for machines that run the ethanol fuel.
It is a system independent shops use that clean the injectors and the combustion chamber. They hook the machine up to the fuel rail and run the engine on the cleaning solution, usually a BG44K derivative. It's main purpose is for cleaning carbon build up. Costs around $150.
The problem with seafoam and E-10 is the added alcohol. Most engine can run E-10 with little side effects asside from lower HP, but adding seafoam can raise the alcohol percentage above acceptable levels and in effect "wash" the cylinder walls of the protective oil film. causing accelerated wear.
Now this is a topic that can open a whole can of worms from people who belive otherwise. That is fine we are all intitled to our own opinions. I have run Seafoam in the past with excellent results and granted the amount of alcohol added from one can of seafoam to a 30 gallon tank is minamal. But the chance is still there. There are fuel additives out there that work just as good if not better then seafoam that contain no alcohol, such as Amsoil's P.I. I for one don't have the money to play arond with risking damaging my engine so I stay away from adding any extra alcohol to my gas. As for adding it to your bikes gas or lawnmowers, the risk is higher due to the increased concentrations, so I definatly would stay away from it there.
But like I said we are intitled to our own opinions and if you feel comfortable using seafoam (which is a great product, don't get me wrong) go ahead.
I cannot comment on the other additive or treatments as I have no experiences with them, just Seafoam and Amsoil"s P.I. and both work wonders on fuel system problems
Just wanted to say thanks for everyone's input. I'm really intrigued by the bg 44k... been doing some reading on the web about it... some independent studies, most everything I've read says its really good. Sounds like it will clean out the system better than almost anything... Maybe I'll break down one of these days and crack off the 20 bucks for a can.
