I just bought an '06 STX, supercab. My feeling on it was that while the F150 is a nice truck, I dont think it is worth more than $23k with tax. I paid $21,700 for the truck below - my must haves were the Gunmetal Gray color, 133" (shortest wheelbase/smallest bed) supercab and towpackage. I wanted 3.73 traction lock differential but they couldn't find a match with all of those options, so I settled for 3.55 open, towpackage, but also got captains chairs and the 6CD/mp3 stereo.
I was a bit dissapointed that Ford couldn't throw in a tachometer or power doors/windows. Heck I'd have even paid another $300 for the option, but certainly i wasn't going to consider an XLT for a couple thousand more for that option and what I feel is outdated looks (chrome bumpers?? come on.)
I also only wanted the 133" wheel base and you can only get that with a supercab as an STX.
So far I like the truck, love the looks, and will probably pursue putting in power door locks. To the above person who said he installed these, please PM or email me ((Click Here to find out why email addresses are removed from posts.)) and let me know how you did this.
That color is call Dark shadow grey metalic, but I'm sure you knew that. I myself have no regrets buying my XLT. Do you get the compass and out side temp on the STX. I will give the SXT this I like the color bumpers instead of the chrome. I might even swap out the bumper off mine for a STX with fog lights.
ya dark shadow...lol, i had been saying that term so much last week when shopping for the truck that i must have blocked it out and forgotton it when i posted.
anyway, no no compass or any of that jazz, the STX is bare bones!
my 06 STX 4x4 supercab is my new girlfriend...just kidding. Its got a shorter bed on it than most trucks, I dont really know what size it is, and i dont know about the gear ratio either. True, the STX has alot less features on it, but those things are just more that can mess up
I have owned both the STX and now the XLT.My STX was a reg cab.My XLT is a SCREW.I installed power locks in the STX but aftermarket locks in my opinion arent as good as the factory ones. There were a few things I liked better about the STX,no carpet for one.And I like the painted bumpers too.I find after a while the carpet in any truck gets dirty no matter how hard you try to keep it clean.Overall I definitely like my XLT better,5.4 engine compared to 4.6.(reason for owning both trucks is Katrina took everything I owned except my STX so when I purchased my new home on wheels I traded in 4.6 liter STX for 5.4 Liter XLT.)

Well that's my '89 F150... actually any of you that read FordMuscle magazine will know it as <a href='"http://www.fordmuscle.com/ProjectCars/"'>Project "Big and Ugly Work Truck"</a>
Well that thing died on me and without a driver i said it was time to get a new ride. Needless to say when i backed the new F150 up I didn't care if I tapped the '89 (I didn't!)
