You didn't say what year...so I went here:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/specs/index.html

and used 2008 model year, which lead me here:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/specs/20...ford-f150.html

Here's the breakdown:
XL includes: Argent front and rear bumpers; black grille and front fascia; interval wipers; 17-inch steel wheels; air conditioning (SuperCab); AM/FM audio system; black vinyl floor covering; interior map lights and vinyl 40/20/40-split-front seat with manual driver lumbar support.

STX adds: Body-color front and rear step bumpers and grille surround; air conditioning (Regular Cab); AM/FM audio system with single CD player and cloth 40/20/40-split-front seat with manual driver lumbar support.

XLT adds: Chrome front and rear bumpers; black honeycomb grille insert; remote keyless entry; power exterior mirrors; automatic headlamps; carpeting and floor mats; power locks and windows; privacy glass; outside temperature and compass display; and premium cloth 40/20/40-split-front seat with manual driver lumbar support.

FX4 adds: Body-color front and rear bumpers (with monotone paint) or Dark Shadow Grey front and rear bumpers (with two-tone paint); black “bar style” grille insert; wheel-lip moldings; 18-inch machined cast aluminum wheels; keyless entry keypad; black leather-wrapped steering wheel; black rubber off-road floor mats; sport cloth 40/20/40-split-front seat with manual driver and passenger lumbar support.

Lariat adds: Chrome (monotone) or Arizona Beige two-tone front and rear bumpers; chrome grille surround with Light Arizona Beige honeycomb insert; power heated side mirrors with integral turn signal; 18-inch bright aluminum wheels; electronic automatic temperature control; rear window defroster; carpeting and floor mats; message center with trip computer; leather-wrapped steering wheel with duplicate controls; power-adjustable driver’s seat and leather-trimmed seating surfaces.

It doesn't say in McDavis post, but I am pretty sure the Fx4 gets and added skid plates with its offroad package. I know that my lariat has the Fx4 skid plate, but I have come to the conclusion that my truck was custom ordered because it has a lot of the fx4s features as well as the lariat two tone paint, interior, rear window defroster, etc.

The Larait package should have all the extra features such as skid plates as the Fx4 and then they add more on top of that such as better climate control and higher grade leather.

I just purchased a used 2006 FX4 Supercab. My question is, are the seats leather or vinyl? At first I thought there were leather, but on the way home I realized they could be a very good vinyl imitation of leather.

"leather trimmed" in the FX4
The seat bottoms and back (the parts you are sitting on) in the front seats are "leather". They're actually synthetic leather...some call it "pleather" for plastic-leather.
The front seat sides, headrests, and back cover are vinyl, as well as the entire back seat.

OK, so there is a little leather on the seats

I found the original window sticker tucked away in the owner's manual. This truck has optional "Sport leather trimmed CPT chairs".

To be complete wouldn't ya add the Lincoln Mark LT as the highest trim level? I notice we don't discuss the Lincoln much on here

Not all of them. I walked away from a super clean 06 before I bought my 07. No skid plates on the front transfer case or fuel cell. Not sure why some do and some don't.

I personally would call the king ranch the highest level. Been in both a KR and mark lt. The ranch leather is so much nicer.

Most reason I think the LT isn't talked about much is they are fairly rare. Only two in my whole town and it's not a small place.
Also if you have the money for the LT you have the money to just pay the service tech and not worry about it yourself.

I agree with this the KR leather is awesome! The LT is more like the Lariat leather.

Yep, I agree completely with this. I drove three different lariats before I bought the one I have now and none of them had the fx4 skid plates. One of them, and extended cab verision didn't even have the center console shifter, but I don't think it was standard in the lariats.

Not all 4wd's had skid plates. I believe you had to opt for the "off road" package (not the FX4 trim) on other models to get skid plates.
