The XLT has Chrome front and chrome rear step bumper, Standard Overhead Rail Storage System on SuperCab and SuperCrew (without power moonroof), Power windows, locks and mirrors, rear window with fixed privacy glass.
I bought the STX and the only thing I miss is the power door locks. It's a long reach across to unlock the door for someone.
I agree, it is a pretty long reach for those locks, but i still love my truck! The STX has a very unique appearance that looks sportier than any other trim level.
just an FYI for $400 i added power mirrors, locks, and windows and for another $300 i could have a FX4 or Lariat guage cluster with a tach installed. i could also do without the black on silver seats. i decided id save $1500 on buying the STX rather than the XLT
ahhh everyone has asked me that question on all 3 of the boards. i got the windows and locks done when i got my alarm installed. if you want to look into a kit thats i recommend. stylin concepts has it.
I would have bought the STX and with a few easy upgrades it would have been great, only problem is that they don't offer the 5.4L V8 in the STX, why not confuses me. In the end I wanted more power so I ordered an XLT. STX is limited in color scheme too, a few or which are pretty fugly. My advice to ford on the 2005 STX, optional 5.4L and add a tach, now you have a true sporty truck.
yes, no tach in the so called "sporty" STX pickup is a grossly ignorant move by Ford marketing. i suppose some ford NUMNUT with no car knowledge got a fat bonus for deleting the $15 tach from the vehicle that ford's own marketing division calls "sporty". What a total croc; and what a contradiction from ford published marketing literaure and a solid vote for the 2004 Darwinian STUPID MARKETING MANAGER OF THE USA AWARD (with pending honors for STUPID MARKETING MANAGER OF THE WORLD AWARD) . Ford, what were you thinking, introducing a so called sporty vehcle for which you simultaneously pulled the tach? My little sister's ford focus and my other sister's subaru have tachs. But not my brand new , made for guy's (and gals) "sporty" 2004 STX???? Bill Ford, some of your Detroit marketing people (or whoever make these decisions) either dont know the difference between dog shxt and dougnuts or are totally brow beat by corporate. Either Way, You have a problem to fix. I am up to speed more than most on the rationale behind the various ford f150 marketing schemes (the marketing logic behind STX vs XLT vs FTX,etc ) but Ford, dont sit on your butts--make changes when appropriate.

The Logic is to force you from the lower priced STX to a FX4 or XLT to have the most basic of comforts..tach, p windows etc...it got me to a XLT I wanted a Yellow STX flareside lower price tag... the options arent even available...they got you
I agree, they got you. I had to have the flow through console with the floor shifter so I had to go to an FX4. Once I got to an FX4 it was a MEASLEY $500 more to go to a Lariat so I did. Ugh, hurts our pocket books but really...a pretty good idea from a business stand point. Obviously it works.
I just dont like being forced, all other years you could have goten power in an XL if you chose now the XL is reserved for work only, a true custom truck could have been built from a STX platform but not without things that cant be put in ie: p.windows , locks etc.. I relize these can be added but weighing prices you might as well buy up a Model...
