Exclamation 32 gallons in my 29 gal. tank!

When filling my '04 6.0 F250 diesel last night, the attendant took his time, kept
stopping after pumping just a little fuel, tapped the nozzle a bunch, and got
32 gallons in my tank! I've never gotten over 27.something before. He said if
you go easy and let the foam die down, you find out what it really will hold.
Drove over 50 miles today, and needle hasn't moved off of full yet.

Maybe this isn't news to some, but I was amazed----re-checked my owner's
manual, and it definitely says 29 gallon capacity....

I get right at 141 miles before mine leaves full and love every minute of it, just wish it did this through the hole gauge drop process, but I can wish.

I noticed a huge amount of Foam that is produced today while filling up a 6 gallon jug for a generator. I had to let it settle for at least 15 seconds so it wouldn't foam out of the neck. I'll have to try that next time I fill up my truck.

There is the HARPOON mod that cuts the vent tube that goes from inside the tank to the filler neck very short. This vent line allows the foam to back up the vent into the filler neck and making the refuel time extremely slow to the top.

I've done the harpoon mod and when mine clicks off I can just get .8 gallons into it before it touches the cap so it saved me a bunch of time at the pump freezing my butt off outside

All it is, is you drop the tank and take the sending unit out of it and reach up inside with a set of pcv pipe cutters and cut the vent tube off (the smaller one) in the tank and then take the cut piece out of the tank and put it all back together. What this does is let the foam out threw the vent hole and not have 6 inches of foam on top of the fuel while filling. I did this to mine after my second tank full and wouldn't have it any other way either.

Found this on the top of this forum's page. It is in the tech folder. Click below and you should get the info you need to do the harpoon.

You have a longbed, right? With a 38 Gal tank. If you can get 40 in a 29 shortbed tank, let's talk!

Does this 'harpoon' mod have any adverse effects?
