I know I can count on you guys to help me figure this out. Here's my issue, my 96 EB Bronco (351W w/138,000) idles a little rough, more like it lopes. Feels almost like the timing is off and it is going to die, but it doesn't. Runs fine on the road, but idles rough at stops. Had the IAC crap a few months back but solved it with a tune-up in which I replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, IAC and TPS. replaced the S-belt a little more than a week ago, when it started tearing during a long drive. I didn't have any idle issues then, but in the last 4-5 days it has had the rough, loping idle. I don't believe it is the timing, because I checked it this evening and the "base" timing is at 10' BTDC. Any ideas guys. oh yeah, no codes showing either.
I had a similar issue on my 91 302. It was a random idler and we couldnt figure it out. Brought it to some different shops they couldnt figure it out. Decided to take it to one of my buddys family garage in south carolina and those good ol boys figured it out. Ended up being the harmonic balancer had broken loose. Dont know if thats your problem, but it sounds like some of same problems i was haveing ... thats my 2 cents
ok guys, checked vacuum lines, IAC & EGR valve, no issues. Went back and checked for codes again and got 3; P0401,P1131, P1151. Streetgang, I know what you're going to say, I told you so, so let me have it. I know the code definitions, and I'm assuming I just need to replace the O2 sensors, but the P0401 I'm not sure about. Does it relate to the O2 sensors and how exhaust gas is sent back to the system? I don't want to spend $150+ on O2 sensors to find out it's some other problem. Thanks again guys.
I am having the same problem, I replace EGR valve, and I got error code P1131 insuff. Switching 02 Bank 1 sensor 1 sensor/lean. also when i drive my 95 ford ranger 2.3L I can't go pass 60 mile/hour. i start to loose power. what is the problem
