Ficm issue?

Hey guys, I recently had to replace my failing ficm so I went with a 58v swamps with php Atlas 40 on it. It fixed my issues and everything has been well till today. I live in Northeast MO and temps were right around 5-10 this am and my truck was not plugged in. I turned the key on and let the glow plugs do their thing for about a minute and then started it. It immediately went Into a high idle/lope and was stuck loping. On my insight the injector pulse width was going from 0.00 to 2.5 or thereabouts coinciding with the lope. It never lined out and since I put the new ficm on it hasn't ran rough or loped on startup. I barely tapped the accelerator and it took off and wound all the way up to 3k + rpms then back down into the high idle lope. Is this an issue with the 58v ficm? Is this an issue with the php Atlas 40? No codes other than the software incompatible code due to ficm. Thanks. Andrew

Your going to need a gauge that reads live data

I believe me starting my truck last year under very similar conditions led to hpop failure

My truck is always plugged in anymore

When it's that cold that hpo system has to work hard to push oil like that

It might not be the pump but my guess is hpo relaited
What year truck

Sorry I knew I was forgetting something.... It is a 2006 ccsb with 67xxx on the ticker.... While it was stuck it doing this high idle lope I put It in reverse and it continued to do it and had to put extra pressure on the brake to hold it.... I finally just shut it off and waited less than a minute and started it and it ran perfectly normal. I'll keep it plugged in now but would of course like to figure out and resolve the issue. Thank you

Your oil may be too heavy/thick for weather conditions. You may need to use a lighter synthetic oil.
The thicker the oil the harder it is to go thru the injector valves.

My icp is building good pressure cranking and on startup, I thought unplugging the icp was for no start conditions related to HPO leaks? Also running t6 5w40 one bottle revx. Motorcraft filters all around. What would cause it to rev like that and then be unresponsive to the brake? It wouldn't idle down at all it was like it was stuck in the lope situation from startup. Thank you guys.

Bullits test and my comment were to eliminate the oil system as a possibility, now we can think on other areas of possibilities.

Not sure I can answer your questions but I do have a similar setup. Swamps 58v FICM and a FICM tune, but I am not sure what tune. Also have a PCM tune.

I can tell you I have never had this happen to mine, but then I have never tried to start in such cold without being plugged in.

I don't get the software code either, but I hardly get any codes anyway(thinking this is because of the tuner).

Bad ICP sensor can cause idle surge.

Hence try with ICP unplugged, it's free and easy to do.

Bullet, thanks for the info! If the season is bad or going out would it do the surging more when cold? If I have it plugged in might it not do it?

A bad ICP sensor can do a lot of different things.

You could also have a bad dummy plug that is bleeding down and causing an air lock.

Also cannot forget about stiction.
