Jeff - I'm speechless! I can't believe your post! I'll miss calling you for Ford advice. I wish you all the best in your new career. You'll wow 'em for sure!
Hey - now you can come off roading with us in a Land Rover! I hear they're pretty good on the trails!
Seriously - best of luck & please - stick around. You're family!
Jeff, Im sorry to see you go, because I was really hoping to buy another Ford from you. And yea, you are hands down the nicest salesman of anything Ive ever met. I would have flown across the country (not just halfway) to pick up the new truck if I would have known just how good the transaction was going to be. Anyway, good luck at the new job, and this brings into mind another question. My family has always had a Range Rover as an SUV, and we love em. How flexible are you on Land Rover and Range Rover pricing??
For the first time in my life, I'm truly speechless.
Life has been crazy the past few weeks, not just with the new job but a bunch of personal stuff, as well. Which is why I haven't been on here in a while, and I come back to find this thread still going, up to 4 pages no less! I just can't believe how many people have responded, all with such encouraging words (makes me wonder if I did the right thing....). It just reaffirms what a great site FTE (and each FTE member) is. I can't thank you enough for all the support, and I'll try to be less of a stranger.
Somebody asked if my efforts on FTE were a plus on my resume, and did it help in getting the new job. I'm not afraid to tell you that the answer is: absolutely. The GM of the BMW dealership was blown away by what I was able to do (or, more accurately, what FTE allowed me to do), and we're looking into how we can do it here. "X number of dollars below invoice" is a dirty phrase at this end of the automotive food chain, but you know me: I'll figure out SOMETHING... And for the person who asked where I'm at (assuming Ken doesn't have any objections), it's John Holtz BMW-Land Rover in Rochester, NY, also known as Holtz House of Vehicles. AS it's a large, white building with columns and many "luxury features," it's often referred to by our competition as "The Mausoleum." But Mr. Holtz does NOT appreciate that nickname, so you didn't hear it from me!
So, let me get back to catching up on some posts here (even if they are now near the bottom of the list- what's up with THAT?!), and thanks again for the encouragement. Oh wait- gotta run. "Arrogance 101" training starts in 5 minutes!!
Hang tight Jeff...Every once in a while peoples lives get rolled upside down. Its just like clothes in the washing machine, but by the time the tumbling is done you come out clean and ready for a fresh start...
Can't wait for you to start posting again as I always enjoyed reading your posts...

I agree with THAT, Jeff. Suddenly the stuff I read the most is at the bottom. I sure wish I could find an option that allows me to put the forums in an order I prefer! Best of luck at your new location; I know you'll do great things there!
Last week talking to two different dealers both Rover service techs they told me if you had a 2003 Rover with a 4.0 or 4.6 Rover motor (was Olds/Buick aluminum block) and needed a motor replacment, short blocks are not available anymore. "Look for a good used wrecking yard motor as Rover doesn't supply motors any more", even if it's 2 years old under a 3 year warranty. This would be like a 2003 model purchased new in early 2004 or after the first of the year, your screwed. Wasn't it a federal law to have parts available for 10 years after the production run?

It's a falacy...
Otherwise, Ford would still be selling the wiper transmission for my '97 Cougar. But I had to replace it two years ago (at only 6 years old or so) and the part was discontinued!
Got it from a local dealer who deals with "classic parts" and they got it from somewhere, in a Ford box, Ford part #, etc...
It doesn't surprise me about the Rover motor. What did they switch over to ?
This is good news to me as I was told months ago that motor was dead. Will RNA dealers again have the motors availabe? Now shipping a short block to California will become an issue from across the pond, used wrecking yard motors with possible liner shifts are scrap cores and there are many out there.
This means Rimmer Brothers and RPI will stay is business I hope as a performance parts supply as well Piper Cams, they don't go flat by 60K which is normal for Rover's cams and that plastic cam gear. Too bad they didn't get the dry start oiling problem corrected the last years Rover has the motor with the oil pump on the crank snout. With my 4.6 5-speed & Borla it sounds like a 289 driving by. Thanks for the update.

As soon as I got off the phone with the receptionist, I called the local Ford dealership and talked to one of the salesmen from whom I have purchased my last four Fords and sent three personal references who purchased from him (including a black Ford Lightning). Their prices were always very fair, but nothing like you offered!
Anyway, I told him what price you and I had agreed on, and told him if he could come darn close, I would once again give him my money. I also told him I had a grand to give him to get the truck on order. He asked for two hours. Well, he came back at $300 over invoice, no hidden "gotchas". Not too shabby, seeing that the dealership is less than 20 minutes from the house.
I am heading there tomorrow (Saturday) to get the truck ordered. He says eight weeks max. Thanks for showing me (and all of us here on the forums) that vehicles can be purchased right around invoice, and not MSRP.

Jeff sold me a 2005 F350 V10 CC for $1K under invoice in May 05; the new guy on the block at VBortel said he could match same deal on a 2006.
Thanks Jeff for the info a couple of weeks ago. Because of you I finally got the 2006 F250 CC FX4 Lariat that I have been dreaming of. (Loving It) You told me they were going to say they couldn't discount diesels that much and they did. After working it a couple of days they come down to the price you suggested I pay. Thanks and good luck.
Did you buy from Van Bortels? I want to purchase a F350 diesel from them. I have purchased a 2005 F350 V10 from Jeff last year but found out he's (quite the gentleman) gone. The GM transferred me to a Paul guy but don't think it's a Jeff type FTE deal like before. E-mail me particulars if you don't mind
Have to get off this thread. It's turned out to be a non-FTE subject. HOWEVER I do want Jeff to have all that's coming to him ($$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$). Good luck JC!!! Hope it doesn't work out though and we'll see you back representing the blue oval again. You got me to buy my first ford product and I am 60+. I will continue to purchase the SD Fords in the future. It's a damn nice F350 you sold me last year!!!
