the latch that holds the rear window together has broken off and im not sure where to find a replacement. does anybody know a site that i could find this piece? please tell me asap because i got my cd player and 400 dollar amp stolen last night because somebody opened the window, which obviously isnt locked, and slid right into my cab
Unless you absolutely need the ability to open a window into your bed (like tossing beer cans in the back -- oops, that was a reference to a time long ago ), I would get rid of the sliding window and put in a solid window. Too many problems with the sliding ones (leak possibilities, cheap plastic handles, thieving little *******s, etc.).
Its nice to have that window though. It you open all three windows in the truck and leave the vents closed you can get some good air flow. Just hit up your local auto glass shop and ask for the chebby latch its metal and it will fit and make the seal tighter.
The latch on my 88 slider broke about eight years ago. I ended up buying a new latch from the dealer for a few bucks. The nice thing about this is the new piece screwed right on with no modifications. On the other hand if you want to keep your slider and can find a steel latch to replace the original this would be the way to go.
