Hey guys I need to get my rear window removed and replaced. Im thinking about saving some cash and doing it myself with the help of my father in law. I just cant seem to find anyplace online that sells the rear window? Any ideas where I can go to get the window and will I need a gasket kit or is that normally included?
BTW im replacing it because the sliding portion of the window is not glass just a peice of plexi glass taped to the window and its been like that since before I bought it.
Any luck with the local junk yards? It would be a good way to learn how it comes apart b/c if something breaks, it's not your truck. Then you can just buy the gasket.
Otherwise, you should probably just go to the local auto glass store. Even if you don't wanna pay for installation, they can probably order it and the gasket for you.

Glad I found this thread.. I think i have your sister truck as mine has the same issue with the plexi glass.
In my case I have the replacement in hand I just need instructions on how to remove the existing window... anyone point me in the right direction for instructions thanks
The rope trick works. If you're going to replace the seal, which you should unless it is fairly new, just cut out the old window with a hobby knife. Put the seal on the new window and put butyl sealer on top corners (about 4"from each way from corner) put the cord on and press on outside while pulling cord on the inside. Haynes and Chiltons show this too.
