Is there any way to make those windows (windows on the suicide doors) functional?? The windows on the upper models work and I am most certain that there must be a way, or someone already was brave enough to try it, to make it work. I would liek to know because then I would order additonal power window kits for my truck tomorrow!!
the scab rear windows do go down... i tuck the door panel off and stuck a bit in where the window crank would go and it rolled down. For some reason they didnt put a handle on it but to answer your question, Yes they do roll down and i think you can buy a window kit for them althought im not sure where or what it is, if anyone knows post a link on here to them bcuz i would like to put them in my truck also
I been doing a lot of research on this topic. Since I removed the manual window mechanisms in the front doors after I got my power windows, I think I can reuse the crank handles from them. People have said that crank handles might be too long and the arm rest might interfere with it working. So I think that my removing the ****, and cutting the handle in half, and re mounting the **** at a shorter distance can clear the arm rest. My question is, before I start drilling, can the front handles' screw reach the mechanism behind the door? I even look for a power window kit online and at dealerships and I think my only option is to go this way.
pretty much, as long as there are handles, the windows will go down. Ford didnt want to stamp out different doors, so instead, they just removed the power functions, aka motors and the handles. This is from what i read and saw. If you remove the panel, you can see the mechanism there
If the rear window has the rail and the socket already for the handle why not just go with a colibri(I have this one) or SPAL Universal kit or somthing. Those Power window kits actually use the crank mechanism of the window itself and bolt right on to the handle socket itself via universal adapters. I think the hardest thing about everything would be the close confines of the door space itself to fit the unit in there but if it doesn't fit you can always ebay it or resell it here.
Weird im pretty sure on the brand new 06s they windows just roll down automatically like the buttons are there already atleast the scab we test drove did
My 2006 XLT Scab has power rear windows, Why can't you go to ford and order the power units for a XLT and install them in your STX, You may need to find a power source if its not there already.
I just interested in knowing if someone has done this before. I am getting ready to put in electric windows on the drivers and passengers sides up front and was wondering if someone has made the back windows functional on an STX. I just want to know if some one was successful at taking the handles off the front and adding them to the back windows and have them work.
I read that the front handles will not work in the back and you NEED to put in power windows with switches only because the handles will not clear the arm rest. Poor design......I contacted a member over at a different forum, but he has yet to get back to to me. He was able to get all four windows to work using power window kits......Maybe OEM FX4 window kits will work....
