390 Flywheel help Please

My flywheel in my 67 Fairlane GT 390 4speed has many heat cracks. I found a used flywheel in good shape but it is out of about a 76 Ford Truck. They both look the same side by side but the one from my Fairlane is completely flat on the front surface. The other one has a very small step in it about 2 inches from the ring gear. Anyone know if they are interchangeable? Or can I tell if they are somehow? Of course I cant find a number on either of them..
Thanks any help appreciated

I can't see why it would be any different? The undercut area is not used anyway.

If you use a stepped flywheel with your original pressure plate, the clutch may slip.

The only difference is you'll have less pressure with the stepped one. And you'll have to adjust the clutch linkage way one way. Been there, done that

You can always bring it to a machinist, get it resurfaced, and eliminate the step.

Ya, was kinda thinking that it would hold the plate tighter. Just was not sure that it was where the bolts were at.

Surface it completely flat and run it!

Yup, should work fine. Are you going to put a new pressure plate on it?

If so, take your old flywheel, clutch plate and pressure plate, and bolt it together, on the bench. See what angle the fingers on the pressure plate are.

Now, assemble the new flywheel, clutch plate and pressure plate, and see if the angle is almost the same (fingers should be slightly more recessed with brand new parts because of wear).

If it's not, like the fingers are REALLY recessed compared to the original, the pressure plate is meant for the stepped flywheel.

Does this make ANY sense?

Again, been there done that

That makes sense. We will just machine the step off.
I will be buying new everything for the clutch . I will be sure to do that. I was hoping to be able to use this flywheel to save me some money a new one isnt cheap. This one I got for free. I really appreciate all the help..
